Thread: Focus on your eyelids or imagination?

That should be Eyelids in the title lol

There, tried to fix the title but only the one on the top of the post changed, sorry.

Anyway, I imagine a scenareo in great detail, kind of like a story and go with that. It's nice because even if I do fail, it often influences my dream.

I don't know if this sounds like a daft question but they really are very different. I mean when I go with my imagination I tend to fall asleep quickly, but looking at my eyelids and the imagery produced it takes slightly longer.

Thoughts?

I suppose I normally focus on my imagination but, if I see the beginnings of hypnagogic imagery.. I'll focus on my eyelids and take a passive interest in the imagery (rather than focus directly on it).

Did any of that make sense?

I say focus only with your imagination, not your eyes. And even then, you want to take a very casual focus. Don't try to stare it down. You can actually strain your eyes trying to "look". All you want to do is "see", not because of potential eye strain but, because there's nothing for the eyes to look at. By trying to look with your eyes you get too actively involved and that tends to make it all go away. The same goes with too heavy a mental focus. Be aware but don't focus.

Like Clairity said, when HI does begin to appear, take a passive interest. HI is very fragile and any attempt to interfere is counter-productive. Let it carry you away rather than trying to jump on board.

Excellent thanks guys. Actually Oneironaught I had noticed about the straining because my eyes would follow patters and cross or look in weird ways and cause my to loose focus on what I am doing.

I need to get an early night tonight because I have to pick up my parents from the airport at 6am so think I might try WILD an hour or two before I have to get up.

I have to say I am one of the worse people I know for changing sigs and avatars lol - I get bored really quick, I am always changing themes on PCs and moving my desk at work about because I dont like things to be too samey lol. But this set I actually like and think I will keep
