      Amplified Phobias

I had a dream last night, taking place in my school's auditorium. In the dream, we were on the bleachers, and had to stand for the star spangled banner. In real life, so what? I run all across the top of those bleachers at the top when they're pushed in. But in this dream (not lucid), I was only about 10-15 ft. (about 3 meters) off the ground, and yet I was deathly afraid to stand up. I had this extreme phobia of hights, something I've never experienced before in real life. I wouldn't get up, and one of my friends sitting next to me was nudging me like "you whimp, get up" but I just couldn't. I don't think this is the first time that I've had amplified fears before in dreams. Just thought it was kinda strange.
I am of the belief that right now I am dreaming, and that you are all characters, therefore if you don't please me I'll just zap you to the cornfield like that little boy from the Twilight Zone. Or maybe I'm a Schitzo.

It isnt neccesarily the height you're afraid of, it could be something symbolic, mean something else.

I've never had fear of the Star Spangled Banner before ... Maybe it has something to do with singing, or the person next to me (very possible, as he is associated with people who scare me...)

Dreams don't always make sense. If you can't think of anything else you could of been scared of it might have just been a random thing.

There are super high bleachers at my school, it's just a matter of time before a freshman falls in-between the cracks...

Like CT said, it could be symbolic...

Hmm, I've never encountered such thing... On the contrary, most of my fears are greatly inhibited :/

I have encountered such an experience a few times...

Once while climbing a tree, other times while climbing mountains/cliffs, and another while flying in a space shuttle (all in dreams of course) Each time I realized I was dreaming just befopre waking up - frustrating as heck, because you think to yourself: Man, all I had to do was step out and levitate, or sprout some wings and fly away or something like that...

I've been lucky enough a few times to become lucid just before waking, then fall back to sleep and "conquer" the fear by continuing right where the dream left off. I have noticed that sometimes fear or other emotions seem to get extremely amplified, but I'm not sure why...

I've never been swimming with any kind of large mammal like dolphins or anything, and whenever they appear in my dreams they're ALWAYS filled with negative energy. I become frightened of them, even though I'm not scared of them IRL.

But it is interesting that my fear of water has increased with age. If it has to do with these dreams... who knows?
