The transition from Dream to Lucid Dream

If you had to describe the transition from when you are dreaming to realising this and becoming lucid how would you best describe this?

I love this feeling, especially with DILD - because I always feel like I would imagine Agent Smith from the Matrix would feel when he takes over another body mixed in with when Neo gets up after being shot in the first Matrix then gets up and realises he is in fact 'the Matrix' that realisation point that you can control anything.

      What about you guys?

That's a good description, and it kind of somes it up. I kind of have a big woosh and everything comes into focus and feels like real life. It kind of feels like when you are on a roller coaster, after going down a huge drop, right when the roller coaster tilts upwards and goes up a hill. That kind of weird lurch feeling, but in a god way.

      Hey there,

I used to have it, like a little shock, almost like the feeling of mild surprise, I guess. Like something happening that you didn't expect that makes you go 'whoa'.

These days I don't anymore though, whenever I go lucid I don't really feel anything at all. It's as though I already knew, somewhere deep down, and now just start putting that knowledge in practice. It's very seldom that I still feel some sort of transition or change... and if I do it's usually brought on by some very unexpected dreamsignal (like the light switch not working) while I am in deep deep sleep (ie first part of the night).

Ooooh... mine's really hard to explain.. sometimes there's like a strange heaviness in the air.. like an intense silence.. creates a really eerie feeling. Those tend to be the ones where I have the least control.

Pretty much agree with Redrivertears. Sometimes it's an exciting revelation... "I'M LUCID!", and sometimes it's kind of matter-of-fact.

The matter-of-fact ones are better in a way, I can take things in stride and stay in the LD longer because I'm not waking myself up with excitement.

Had both of these versions just last night.

I usually get excited but then try to tone it down a bit so I dont wake up

With me i seem to find that my head will feel suddenly heavier asthough lucidity was like something that overcame me and made me human instead of a ghost wandering my dreams, its a strange feeling to describeto be honest, its cool but very very strange. I could probably describe it better if i had a recent lucid dream.

I usually feel a tingling feeling, and move my limbs about to sort of "break" from being captive in the dream. Usually I will proclaim I'm lucid or start laughing really hard. Strong emotion sometimes accompanies this, such as excitement. Personally I've yet to have a real problem with waking up because I'm too excited (deep sleeper).

In DILDs, I have a very sharp transition to lucidity, kind of like going from watching the dream to being in the dream. Things usually get brighter all of a sudden, all of my senses are enhanced. For some reason, I also feel really cold. Everything just becomes clearer, the millions of random subconscious thoughts in my head disappear at the arrival of self-awareness.

In WILDs, well, I honestly can't find the words to describe it . It feels like I "collapse" into myself. I can feel myself leaving the outer world and having all of my perceptions migrate to my mind. Cool stuff...
