      Thumbs up Reality check success

3 days ago i started a new lucid dream programme/regime. I have changed my reality checks, i now do awareness reality checks, finger count, light switch, and look at the hands. Before i wasn't doing any reality checks, now i do lots and it is paying off. I started 4 days ago and i have had 4 lucid dreams, and lucid dreams in the last three nights. I wasn't getting any lucid dreams before i changed my approach, this has really benefited me, i now feel as if i can lucid dream every night and as if i can't fail to become lucid.

How much success do you get from reality checks and in particular the awareness reality check (observing your surroundings)? I think IT has been the key because i always do that one first and so far have become lucid instantly. I also have had high level lucids probably because i have taken in my surroundings with this reality check and made me really aware.

Oh yeh i do that reality check aswell. Lately i have been having alot of failed reality checks so now when i do one i always make sure i take it seriously, i actually think to myself that this could be a dream right now cause otherwise it passes through to your dreams.

Suprisingly as i say i feel as if i can't fail to become lucid that night i do. I think it might have something to do with i had run out of Red Leicester cheese but iv bought some more now so i am happy. I feel this helps me to become lucid because i dream of past friends, homes, schools etc which enables me to realise it is a dream.

The cheese hasn't let me down yet, hope i don't jinx that aswell!

Do you do these all the time?
      When you're awake?
Does it just run over into your dreams when you do it all the time?

I'm guessing your new to lucid dreamng? Yes, the more you do reality checks the quicker it will start to run onto your dreams. Also you have to take them seriously, always take into account you could be dreaming when performing a reality check otherwise you will get a lot of failed ones. Reality checks are the best way for beginners to induce lucid dreams. The tricky part of this is that it is hard to imagine being in a situation where beginners cannot tell reality from non reality. This is where the commitment comes in. You have to keep double checking reality until it comes second nature.

Adding to what ld master said: in adition to reality checks I have found it important to set goals to do in lucids and imprint them in your mind. (Example: I want to create a kitten from thin air, or I want to fly over the landscape, etc.). Sometimes these goals will actually act as a reality check in dreams, because you'll start trying to accomplish them in your dream and realize "oh yeah, this is what I wanted to do while dreaming. I must be dreaming!"

Also what ld master said-- awareness RC is good! <3

So i have been having frequent lucid dreams since i started the reality checks and observing my surroundings so i decided to stop them for a while and see the results and i have been doing this 5 days and i have no lucid dreams in 5 days, i don't think thats a coincidence.

Oh well back to the reality checks, and observation checks.

I'm gonna see if my lucids come back, i bet they are back within the next few nights. Anyone else notice if they stop their reality checks for a while their lucid dreams stop too?

ya if i stop reality checking then my dreams stop quite a bit. The biggest thing that effects me though is lack of sleep . I always end up staying up late for homework and what not. Actually i'm not sure which one makes me have more/less dreams... gotta check that out

It took three nights but the reality checks have entered my dreams, thats the good news for me. The bad news is that i recall this dream and at the end i am doing lots of reality checks consecutively without becoming lucid, and i recall my vision being very strange. I have noticed that the last few nights i have been having very vivid dreams and been recalling them very well which is strange for me, i have been eating cheese and b6 before bed which probably is the main reason.

Lucidity is close, i can feel it. I am starting to forget what it feels like after 8 nights without one. I feel once one comes alot more will follow.

I started doing frequent RCs as soon as I read about them, and whaddya know, my first and only LD so far was triggered by a nose plug RC. And man, that feeling is priceless~
