      Exclamation Paxil and Dreams

I decided to start trying to lucid dream again, so the first step is of course to develop my dream recall. I have been keeping a dream journal over the last few days to document my dreams. The first night I set my alarm clock for 1 hour and when I woke up I couldn't remember a thing about my dreams. The second night I tried setting my alarm clock for 30 minutes and still had no luck remembering any dreams. After reading a little bit on Dreamviews.com about dream recall, I decided to try setting my alarm clock for 4.5 hours after I went to sleep, and still couldn't remember a thing when I woke up. So over the course of the past 3 nights I have managed to recall just a few fragments in the morning from the first and second night, and this morning I couldn't even recall a thing.

Right now I am taking 6.25mg of Paxil for depression, but I am trying to get off because I don't think I need it anymore. I have always noticed ever since I started taking the medication that it made it harder to sleep. When I first started taking it I would wake up at 6:30 in the morning because I was so excited to start the day, and I could never sleep in. Once I became more used to the medication it became easier to sleep in but it was still a chore compared to before I started taking it.

So my obvious question is; do antidepressants such as Paxil affect your ability to recall dreams OR have lucid dreams?

Even if I don't lucid dream for a year, I know I will never get anywhere if I can't recall my dreams (plus writing a dream journal is fun in and of itself), so I would really like to work on this!! Any help would be appreciated

Hahaha.. they should put that on the commercial for the drug. It almost makes me want to take it.

I know that other drugs can keep you from dream recall so it's probably the same thing... like I know this is no "Paxil" but when I take nyquil I hit the pillow and then open my eyes and I'm awake again. It's like a time warp lol

      And welcome to the forum!

Thanks for the welcome Citizen and the funny reply Talkinghead

I looked up "paxil and dreams" on Google and found that most people actually said it made their dreams MORE vivid which was very interesting, but I've been on it so long that if my dreams are more vivid I can't tell, what I do know is it makes it harder for me to sleep for long periods of time. I dont know if that is a good or bad thing but i'm thinking that if I want to develop my dream recall its probably a bad thing
