Exclamation Science Fair Project on Dreaming Topics

Well, at school I have to do a science fair type project, so, I think a project about lucid dreams would be cool and interesting to do. Anyone have any good ideas?

Hmm...discuss with your teacher on what sort of dream-topic you could do, and see if you'd need any sort of hardcore lab equipment. It'd be really cool if you could pull this off. Maybe you could get people to induce different types of dreams and then monitor their heart rate?

I don't think I would be able to use any heavy equipment on this. I was thinking more of something I could do myself at home.

Actually, I hate to steal your idea, but I too have a senior research project to do. I don't know why lucid dreaming didn't occur to me earlier

I can think of several experimental directions we could go off the bat:

Lucid dream induction and the factors involved.
Lucid dream actions and the nuances thereof. (does muscle memory carry over, etc.)
Incorporation of external stimuli into lucid dreams (can you smell your room?)
      Behavior of dream characters.

I'm sure there are plenty of other venues, but that's enough for now. Thanks for giving me the idea, I feel much better now that I have a solid topic to explore!

Those are good topics; I have to do a science project later in the year, I'll see what I can do.

Well, you could do certain experiments that check to see if the waking world effects dreams. For example, you could have someone consistently come into your room and spray some cologne/perfume in front of your face and see if you can notice that in your dreams. It would require a bit of an effort on the part of you (recalling your dreams) and the person who's helping you.

You could also set a CD to go off and see if you begin to hear that in your dreams. You could do the same things with lights or even light touches.

I don't know. I'm just throwing out an idea.

Seeker's son did an experiment here on DV (care of Seeker) that a number of people were a part of where he wanted to see if what you ate before bed affected your dreams. You could do something similar if you could find enough people to participate.

      The thread

      ---------
Lost count of how many lucid dreams I've had

I think, you should try and see if anyone else you know has lucid dreams. Get them to write dream journals (and yourself too if you don't already have one) and make some connections. No need for equipment.
Jen was 13 years old. A fairly normal girl. She spent a lot of time online.
One day, she made a new friend. He liked the same bands, worried about the same subjects.
They decided to meet at the local mall. She went. So did he.
Only he wasn't in junior high.
HE WAS A 1500 LB GRIZZLY BEAR.
1 in 5 children online get eaten by wild bears. And you didn't even know bears could type.
