Precognitive Dreamers?

Okay I know this is in the lucid section, but there is a reason for this. Maybe people, myself included have experienced precognitive dreams, and usually this will range from something very small like a slight Deja Vu to something stronger like an actual event happening as you already saw.

Now, in my experience, what I have had precognitive dreams, they have always been non lucid. But I was wondering if you think there is a way to induce these types of dreams, much like a DILD is pretty much an unplanned lucid dream, and a WILD is a planned induction into lucid dreams.

Could the same principal be applied to precognitive dreams? Rather than waiting for them, maybe inducing them? If this is something you already do, how do you do it?

I was thinking simple terms of watching a TV or reading a news paper when lucid, or simply just asking a DC about a future event?

What are your thoughts about induction of precognitive dreams through lucid dreaming?

I am not asking what you would do lol - I am asking if anyone thinks inducing precognitive dreams is possible, but I guess not lol

Interesting question. I would try, but I'm too scared to.

Well i actually think that it wouldn't work that way, if precognition was possible and proven by evidence then maybe i would have more confidence in thinking it is possible. But to be honest i just think that telling the future and more is a rather unlikely thing, anyway, how are you supposed to prepare for a dream like you speak? It just seems illogical to me, it'd be cool if it were possible, but unfortuantely it just doesn't seem very likely.

I got my lottery ticket for tonights £10,000,000 Rollover. Its a pity that precognition couldn't help me, if i won tonight i would buy Adam a house And i'm being serious aswell.

Well LS - I have had a WHOLE bunch of precognitive dreams. And believe they are real. Some people do some don't, just like some people believe in lucid dreaming, or shared dreaming, or OBE's - It's all depends on your beliefs, and I believe you can precog dream - so if you can, why not if you are lucid, after all you are still dreaming...

True, it is just down to belief, well if believing is the way i envy you, what sort have things have you had precognitive dreams about, what came true etc? Just curious to know thats all.

Varies, illnesses to family, friends doing things, death, things like that - There is a lot really - coincidence maybe, but happens all too often for it to be coincidence to me.

So is it more of a general thing and nothing too specific? Like say if i were to have a precognitive dream of a man who was killed on the news and then the next day on the news i hear a woman is killed. Nothing specific but more general. Am i in the right area or am i getting this completely wrong? I may have had a similar experience but i would have thought it to be too general to be precognitive. What i was asking was for a more specific example. Like you dreamt a man died and it was on the news, the next day you watch the news and a man has died. Something like that.

OKay well here is an example.

When I was about 20 I had a dream that a little girl was on a school trip on a boating lake, and she slipped into the water. I jumped in to save her, I could see her panicing eyes staring at me to try and save her, but I couldn't pull her out and I drown with her.

A few days later I was at my friends house and because I told him everything, he had told his mum who went as white as a sheet and pulled out the local news paper with the exact same story as I had said in the dream.

Other things include silly things like specific people getting ill, with the exact illnesses, car crashed in places I had guessed, a friend leaving a holiday early on a specific date because he was home sick - it really does vary, and they are specific to people, not a generic story line.

Wow, thats pretty intense.

Well i tend to have more short outbursts, could be more like assosiation. Like for example i would be watching TV whilst doing some homework and i use a specific word that is not particularly common and it suddenly is used by the newsreader, its freaky. I'll be on the bus to college and then suddenly i'll think "Why don't i listen to KT Tunstall" and then literally a split second later i pass a billboard with an advert for her newest album.

Strange stuff, hard to define really.

Wow, that happens to me too. Almost the same scenario, with the word/newscaster one.

I don't know what to believe. I only like to believe things that have cold, hard evidence. But apparantly, here is the evidence right here on my screen. Others deny it, others have experienced it. If I come accross things like this, I usually only come to a conlcusion if I experience (or not experience) it myself. We'll just have to wait and see.

I have precognitive dreams, too. I tend to think of them as "guide posts." Like, in my dream I am looking at a map and see the signs pointing the way I should go. Then, when they show up in waking life I go "Oh, good. Reached that point on the map." Some are not fun, and are hard to deal with. Like knowing my Granny was going to die, even though she was in perfect health. Everyone at the funeral was so surprised. That sucked, especially watching my dad loose it.

Honestly, I don't know if it would be possible to cause precognitive dreams. I don't think I would want to even if it was.

This topic should be moved to "BEYOND DREAMING".

My original thoughts are are inducing pregognative dreams though being lucid. So could fit in either forum I guess.

I have always wanted to try read a paper or something from the future, I think that would be interesting, maybe one from the weekend and see if anything happens over the weekend that you see in your dream. Start of with something basic, something as a base to work from.

Maybe all you need is strong intention for some period of time. I´ve never heard about any special technique, but I´ve read some texts from some guy who has precognitive lucid dreams and he wrotes how to have them. I will look to my PC and post it here.

OOBEs are also induced via lucid dreaming

I have had precognitive dreams here and there, never anything mind blowing or life changing. Most of the time I will have dreams of certain situations, or places that I have never been. Then later on I will find myself in that specific situation or place.

This doesn't happen as often as I would like, as I find it rather interesting when coming to a place I have never been to before in real life, then realizing that I had a dream prior to that at the same place.

see I would not have believed anything like this until last night, and trust me im as sceptical as they come.

Last night I dreamed I had been awoken by my step dad opening his bedroom door, he walked along the passage way and opens the front room door by mistake then opens my brothers door and switches off his TV and goes back to bed.

Now I woke up to record my dream and someone came out of my parents room and done exactly what happened in my dream. I done a bunch of RC's to make sure I was not still dreaming but I was definatley awake.

I asked my stepdad when I got home if he got up in the night and he said he did to turn off my brothers TV and I asked him the details of what he did and it was exactly like my dream.

So im with Adam if anyone has a technique for this im well up for learning it.

You can believe what you want, but even with your examples I find this impossible to believe. I am sure you've heard of giving a monkey infinity time and he will produce shakespeare. Yes, you had dreams that mimic the future, but imagine all the dreams you had that didn't mimic the future. When you count the massive amounts of dreams you have, most of them will not predict anything. But eventually, something improbable is bound to happen.

I'm not trying to start an argument, but this is what happens when you post supernatural phenomenom in the non-supernatural forum. I had to voice my opinion.

I don't believe it's possible either. Not even remotely in the realm of possibility.

But it doesn't matter what I believe, because I have precognitive dreams all the time. There is definitely something there that needs to be explored.

I think that a lot of people can relate to that feeling of having experienced something before, a déjà vu or whatever, and then remembering that it was dreamed before. It's not uncommon, a friend of mine has had a lot, though I have to yet experience it fully.

Coincidence?
This issue was on my mind this weekend since reading this post.

I had a (non lucid) dream friday night where I was driving on the freeway, and noticed a coyote running along the side of the highway. I pointed it out to my girlfriend, and then the coyote ran onto the road, and started growing to gigantic size. It was at least 5 feet tall and running alongside my car at 70 MPH. I then looked ahead, and noticed three more of these giant monsters were in the lane ahead of me. They surrounded my car and herded me off the road to a rest stop. The dream continued from here with my girlfriend scaring them away with a flashlight, and then some FBI agent arresting me for drunk driving.

Saturday, I drove to my mothers house along a country highway. On the way home, a coyote ran across the road and we had to slam on the breaks and drive off the shoulder to avoid it.

Did my brain just know that I would be driving along that road the next day, and that there were a lot of animals that often cross the road? Was I secretly scared of hitting an animal on the way home? I don't know, but I'm glad I had the dream so I was subconsciously keeping an eye out to avoid potential roadkill.

I don't know if it is coincidence or what, but I do know that nearly every instance of deja vu that I have is, in fact, a dream that I had- sometimes even years prior to the event. A good example is when I visited my girlfriends parents house/ met them for the first time. I recognized their faces and the house immediately, from seeing them in a dream a couple of years before that day. That was before I even knew her, let alone them, and I specifically remember waking up from the dream thinking "who the hell were those people?" Needless to say, when I actually did meet them, it was really strange. It might be nothing other than having a dream in a similar (but made up) place featuring similar (but made up) people, and then my brain filled in the faces and location later upon encountering a similar situation... it's happened a whole bunch though.
