I stopped smoking weed 3 weeks ago, normally smoked about a joint/day for the last 6 years or so. I would say my dream recollection has improved, but the nature of the dreams seems similar. I have had some insomnia, but again not affecting the nature of my dreams, just sleep schedule out of whack...
What I find really messes up my dreams much more is alcohol, getting drunk really seems to make my whole sleep cycle go bad. Actually, alcohol is much harder on my body in general than pot (except for aggravating my asthma which is main reason I quit), it makes me wake repeatedly at night, gives me hangovers, which you don't get from weed, and I feel less well rested when I drink too much.
You are probably not going to quit smoking or drinking in the situation you are presently in, but I would advise you not to get totally wasted so often if you are looking to improve dream recollection. Maybe just the heavy stuff on weekends, and weekdays try to cut the partying maybe in half to start and go from there, up or down as you want to. Or try a week on and a week off, keeping your journal and that will give you the real answer for you
As far as lucid dreams go, I haven't had any that I recall, I just kind of stumbled onto this website so I'm a total fraud about lucid dreams. I just know I have better memories lately, and if my dreams seem more vivid, I would attribute that to the improved recollections.
