this is definitly new to me, falling right into a dream.

ok well I have recently restarted my dream journal, the 1st day went fine, 4 or so fragmented dreams remembered, thats very good for me, and then the 2nd and 3rd day i went blank, nothing

today is that of the fourth, and i woke up at 10:48a, after going to bed about 12:50ish and taking 150mg of B6 and a protein shake (decided to add that in just for whatever's sake)

And once i had awoken this morning, i tried remember dreams from last night, i couldnt seem to recall any, but then i closed my eyes, and i almost instantly was in a dream, it felt as though i had control over the dream, and that i was awake in real life, i kinda thought that it may have been a day dream.

but then i awoke again and went through step by step of the dream, the phone rang, it was now 11:27am.

I'm not sure if i went lucid, although as far as i remember in the dream i thought i was still awake in real life, as thought it was just a day dream, i hadnt realised i had fallen back asleep, but in the dream i think i knew it was a day dream, and i was in full control.

any comments on wheither or not this was lucid?
I remember thinking in the dream this was a day dream, but I'm not sure how long that thought lasted.

I don't actually remember falling asleep so is it possible to day dream? or did i just fall back to sleep because i had just been awake less thant 5 mins?

does anyone have any advice on dream recall? over the last 4 days ive only managed to capture one 'whole' night, but this morning i probably wasnt awake enough to remember my dreams and when i fell back asleep(presumably) my memorys of the nights dreams were erased?

      thanks again, ducky

Many people define a lucid dream as a dream in which you are aware that you are dreaming. My guess- lucid! Congratulations!

That sounds like a DEILD. I find it the easiest way to get lucid if you can catch yourself in time to do it. Congrats.

That's kind of hard; because if you thought you were awake, you didn't know you were dreaming, but you thought you were having a day-dream..so does it count?

I think so. I think it was a low-level lucid. Lucid dreaming is really a spectrum of awareness, from barely lucid at all to complete control of the dream. If you stick with it, you will have dreams that have a lot more awareness, and afterwards, you won't wonder if it was a lucid dream or not, you will know for sure.

As far as recall, everyone has good nights and bad. Just try every morning and every time you wake up at night to think about what you had just been dreaming, then go backwards from there and try to remember more. Don't be discouraged when you can't remember--we get another chance every night!

to sum up brielfy, i remember during the dream i struck a pose, and then i viewed that pose from third person and then i wondered if this was indeed a day dream, because i felt so in control, in the dream i knew i was dreaming, but was wondering wheither or not i was awake in real life.
Then when I awoke I the thoughts from the dream (wheither or not it was a day dream or a full dream) carried on in my head.

and DEILD... *to the research mobile*

thanks all for your quick responses.

[EDIT] I guess its closer to being lucid than not so im making the assumption that this dream was indeed lucid. after writing the entry into my dream journal I seem to be able to recall every detail except who one of the people was, it was very vivid.

after doing a little looking around i found this definition of DEILD posted by ninja9578:
"DEILD - You are going back into a dream that you already had. Since you are still dreaming and may still be in sleep paralysis it is extremely accelerated, but still your mind is awake when you start dreaming." (http://www.dreamviews.com/community/...ighlight=DEILD)

I do beleive what I had was a DEILD and this has actually provoked my interest in alternative techniques. Althought that definition of DEILD says its a dream you have already had, I actually cannot verify that because I don't recall any other dreams from that night but when I was in the dream it did feel like I was in the middle of something or that i had just finished another task.

      Thanks again, Ducky

one question regarding what you meant by "if you can catch yourself youreself in time to do it"?

I have these all the time! I often start dreaming before I fall asleep. I do it before bed time and in the early morning hours. I thought it was normal. I can awake in the morning from a dream, get up - potty or get some water or whatever - and lay back down and istantly pick up where i left off in my dream before i even fall asleep.
