      Angry When Reality Checks...GO BAD!

I was pretty sure I made this topic ages ago..but I couldnt find it...maybe I was dreaming...but if it is a repeat let me know!

HAVE YOU had those experiences where every possible sign tells you that you are dreaming...but you weren't? Try anything stupid?

My Experience from a few months ago....

I awake randomly in the night (this rarely happens). I go to check the time on my digital clock. Blank Screen.

I sit up...and reach to turn my lamp on. Fails.

I get up and out of bed and find my way to my lightswitch. Flick it. Darkness still.

All the signs said I was dreaming...but I didn't have that dream feeling. LUCKILY my mobile fone still worked....so I sussed out we'd had a power failure lol.

Luckily I didnt try to dive through glass like usual!

I had the opposite problem once. I checked to see if I was lucid by holding my nose and not breathing and felt as tho i was not getting oxygen to my lungs and decided I was awake for real. Decided to turn my air conditioner on and take my shirt off and went to bed. I woke with the AC off! and my shirt on.

I've thought I was dreaming, but was awake. Generally I just do something imbarassing like shout, "I'm dreaming! None of this is real! Woo hoo!!" And run around like a fool. Or a couple of times I've tried to jump off the sidewalk and fly. Reality always comes crashing in when I land and feel the pain.

I have had similair situations. Sometimes, when I am extremely sleepdeprived and wake up still half dreaming, or when I'm experiencing VERY intense feelings( usually negative) I can feel VERY dissociated from reality. Up to the point it comes close to a psychedelic mindtrip. I thought about how easily this state of "shifted" awareness can be mistaken for a Dream. There have been serveral occasions where I was REALLY surprised to find out I WASN'T dreaming.
I actually had a NEAR-Lucid dream pretty much the way you THOUGHT you were lucid(Clock was out, lights wouldn't go on), but at the time I "reasoned it away" by concluding: There must be a power out. So the opposite of what you experienced

I've always kept in the back of my Mind: "what if RC's somehow fail?" and as a safety rule I have decided that, might I go lucid in a dream(or think I do) then I will never fly jumping straight out of the window, but always vertically levitate off of the ground before taking off like superman: Problem solved

When I pinch my nose to RC, it fails most of the times, I've had two dreams which I thought that were real because the RCs failed, and even though they fail, I sometimes realize that I'm dreaming because of the stupid/strange events that happen in my dreams, or because feelings such as nostalgia, fear, weakness or sadness are very common in my dreams.

      Oh man...

There is this clock in a classroom at my school that is completely screwed up. It's an analog clock. It stops for about a minute exactly at each hour, then suddenly the hands move incredibely fast an an hour passes by in a minute.

I was sitting in class and I looked at the clock and decided to do a reality check. I looked away and looked back, and the clock was spinning forwards.

So I jumped up, spun around to stabilize myself, and announced, "Yeah, I'm dreaming! I'm lucid! Alright!" Everyone was staring me, but I said, "You all aren't real! You are a a manifestation of my subconscious."

Then I looked at my hand, and I had five fingers. I did an nose RC and I could breathe. Then I asked if the clock was broken, and found it was.

      Damn, that was embarrassing.

the RC i usually use first is counting fingers or clocks, trying to push my finger through my hand, then lights and nose and jumping.

I've always been afraid that I'd think its a dream and then do somethign crazy, like try fly, or even start a fight with a mate lol.

Woke up one morning. Not enough light came through my window, so I decided to turn the light on. It didn't. I looked at the light switch and it was on, so I thought the light should have came on. Immediately, I came to the conclusion that I was dreaming. I then told myself, "I can walk through this wall." I was trying to go outdoors. The problem was that I just ran into it, and I didn't go through it. I had trouble like this in my dreams before, so I thought I was still dreaming, but having trouble. I should've never done this next thing; I acted like I was the hulk, and tried to knock down my wall in one punch. Failed, and ended up with one of my knuckles split open. Kinda realized by then that I wasn't dreaming.

My funniest experience to share is that, after having lucid dreams for a while, I started feeling faint vibrations. Sooo.. after reading that vibrations can be happening even though they're not strong (or seem to have stopped), that you should merely *roll over* and you'll find yourself out and lucid. Well that sounded pretty nifty!

So the next time I was in bed and felt the vibrations, I rolled to my right.. and ran smack into the wall!

To my utter embarrassment, I hear my husband say, "uuuuuh... are you alright?"

I can still see my husband shaking his head as he looked at the wall imprint on my forehead the next morning.
