      Shortened Journal Entries

Due to real life interferences, I don't have much time throughout the day to write down the lengthy, details dreams I find myself suddenly having on the weekdays. Basically, I was wondering if my dream journal will still be effective if I don't write down the entire dream in detail as I remember it.

Will a four or five sentence entry do it? I'm sure it's better than not writing anything down.

I find that the most important part is to go over the dream in its entirety in your head. A few jot notes about the dream should be fine. Just record really vital objects/events that would trigger the memory.

I find that as long as I have gone over the dream at least once when fully awake, I am often able to extrapolate it from a single anchor point in the dream. So, if you want, you could probably record it to your heart's content later in the day although it would not be as fresh in your mind and would most undoubtedly be more difficult. Its good training for dream recall though.
