First Experience Flying, Is it Like this..?

So I had my first experience flying, heres a direct quote from my dream journal...

I step outside onto the front porch (I can't remember going through a door or walking through it), and try to jump. I don't fly, so I stop, take a breath, and jump off intending to fly. Without a thought, I shoot up into the air, and curve around the house. Everything gets real warm, and I'm really enjoying the flying thing, but I guess I"m too excited. I wake up, and barely acknowledge the fact that I was having a dream. I glance to my clock, it reads 12:45.

Let me bear a little bit more detail. I shot up REAL FAST, and I had little/no control over where I was heading. I had a destination in mind when I took off, but I shot up and did a huge curve, sort of like a 360, and things got really really warm on my face as I shot up. It was a rush, and I woke up from the excitement.

      So.. two questions.

      1. Is this how flying normally is? If not (or just for fun), explain how flying usually is.
      2. How can I keep lucidity while flying? Closing my eyes?

      Thanks!
You do this every fucking time.
      No sweat.
      No tears.
      No guilt.
You do this every fucking time.

      1. Flying for everyone is different. This sounded like a decent first try however. You shouldn't have much trouble with your next attempt. Just keep your cool and try not to get excited. Even if you start going fast, try to control your flight rather then freaking out and perhaps trying to pull the brakes.

      2. No, closing your eyes would be a very bad idea. Fly with your eyes open.

As Arby said..everyone does fly differently. You may slowly float, soar at supersonic speeds close to the edge of space, jump off of buldings with your arms outstretched, imagine an invisible staircase...there's just so many ways. If I were you, i'd stay close to the ground and land frequently, using all your senses. By just floating in the "air" your dream will most likely lose detail and not last all that long...senses are key..they will keep it all going

Congrats on your first flying experience! I tend to fly much like my namesake, though it sometimes differs. In my first lucid dream, I flew more like Peter Pan; floating mostly upright, with very fine control and a great feeling of knowing I could do exactly as I wanted.

Since, I've mostly flown faster, and more like the traditional Superman flight. Lately flying has become more of a means of transportation than just something to do for fun, as I've been trying to focus on trying different things in my dreams. But there's nothing quite like waking up and remembering the cool feeling of air whistling past your face, your hair ruffling in the wind, and being able to see the earth below you.
