      Lucid Nightmare

Before I had ever heard of lucid dreaming or knew what it was, I had a lucid nightmare. It was the most terrifying nightmare I ever had..I can't explain it.I kept screaming 'You're dreaming, you're dreaming!' but that only made it all the more terrifying.I was in a place filled with blood, and people were being murdered...It was just awful.I don't often have nightmares, but when I do occasionally have non lucid ones, they are just not on the same level as this one was.

And now I have found out about lucid dreaming, and it sounds amazing, but I am afraid to get lucid. What should I do?

when your lucid dreaming, you control the dream. learn to excersize dream control.
you can stop the nightmare in its tracks, and turn it into some other dream, you can wake yourself up etc... its all up to you.

Lucidity actually enables you to deal with nightmares in the best possible way. Read Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming by Stephen LaBerge. One of the chapters explains how to overcome nightmares. In a nutshell, the solution lies in confronting whatever scares you.
