Thread: Am I just different than everyone else?

I have been looking through this site and reading all the posting. I have playing with LD for over 20 years. I'm sorry, I think you understand your in a dream and start learning how to change them or you don't. I don't buy into a technique for this or listening to a tape to make that work better.

There are a lot of neat things you can do in dreams like flying around. But like everything in life, it really is no big thing after you have done it 20-30 times. I think everyone is missing the best part. You change your dreams and try different things and get different results. Try answering philosophical questions. Try experiencing scenerios to answer these questions. ei If you invented a car that did not use gas what would you do. Seems simple but think about it. Thousands of oil and gas employees/companies would be effected. Oil companies might have you killed to keep their million dallor profits. What about other Countries? Do you think the Middle East would just sit by and let you make their oil fields worth little to nothing over night? Who could you trust with the secret? How would you protect yourself from being riped off by someone else? What would you do with the money you make?

There has to be more you can do with your dreams. It just seams like everyone on this site is just scratching the surface of the possibilities. Is their anyone out there that has been doing this for a long time? What are your favorite dream themes? I feel like I don't have anything left to try.

wow i think i kind of understand what your talking about. Unfortunately i have only had a few lucid dreams (check my sig) and never a large amount of control in any of them. however, to all the people who have them a lot id suggest trying that out, it sounds interesting.
on a side note:
why is his label a "lucid beginner"? I was a lucid n00b when i joined, thats just not fair

Personally, some of the techniques worked for me. Some people have increased their ld counts massively by using those goggle thingy's. There are scientific explanations that are very very simple, you just need to do some research. Have you ever done a WILD? Those are simply amazing, your awareness and the vividness of the dream shoots through the roof. Some people on this site have been having LD's for decades and they seem to be still enjoying themselves fairly well, personally I can think of millions of things that I want to do and fiddle around with. When I start having LD's more than once or twice a week, I'm gonna experiment with the dream environment and see how I can increase my awareness and whatnot.

I think most of us are pretty new to it. You need to get fairly good before you can do stuff like that. A 2 minute dream isn't really long enough for that stuff.

Yep, I understand you perfectly.

All the fun things you do when you start LDing is nothing, but learning.
Like a child learns through games, you learn about dreamworld through fun.

Once I will have enough control and understanding of dreamworld, I will push my knowledge to the limit

Actually, I think there are several threads on this forum where experienced LDers talk about the limitlessness of lucid dreaming... Search a lttle more in the archives...
I do believe that lucid dreaming is a gift, but there are proven techniques to things like improving dream control and recall. I've been a lucid dreamer for about 10 years and my mind is tsill BLOWN every time I fall asleep. This may not be that common, but since there are no limits, why think about philosophy only (I think that's a great idea by the way).

Create new worlds

Change your body into living metal.

Arrange symphonies

Go diving on a remote planet in Orion's belt.

Navigate the universe

Kiss the sun

Sing with choirs of angels

Seek the face of God

The possibilities are truly infinite. I think you'll see that many people, though they have been lucid dreaming for a long time, still have a long way to go before reaching an end (is there one?) to the list of possibilities for the lucid ones.

I understand what you're saying, I've been lucid dreaming for 20 years. Most of the time, I just realize that I'm dreaming and take over, but I have found that if I decide before I fall asleep that I want to pay special attention to controlling a dream, my abilities are far sharper.

Personally, I can never get sick of flying. It's such a rush and is usually what I try to do.

I think that lucid dreaming might unlock keys to using parts of the brain that may be underused while we are conscious. One of the craziest LDs I ever had involved me on stage playing guitar (I actually do play guitar in real life). There was a guitar solo that I had been trying to figure out for a long time, but I just couldn't get it. so I imagined that I was playing it in front of the crowd, and I made a point to look down at my hands to see what I was playing.

The next morning, I got up out of bed and played the solo. That's the only time I've ever done anything like that, and it was pretty freaky. I figure that I always knew what the notes to play were, but then it took my subconscious to break it down for me, because I lacked the confidence to try while I was awake.

yea, it would be awesome to hypnotise yourself (or even seek the help of a professional, the reason people dont is because they think its shamefull to get help with CERTAIN topics/problems in their life, but hey, LDing is cool) anyway, make it so you have LDs every night... then use the LDs to open doors to higher conciousness ect then you can have some REAL fun, like becoming a supercomputer, and maybe like your guitar solo, it will come out in the waking life......

I've hypnotized myself to have lucid dreams every night and it worked for awhile. See the problem with this is that the suggestions eventually wear off. Mind you the first night there was nothing but for six nights after that worked like a charm. So, I find that it works well (if you do it well) but after like five days you should re-inforce the suggestions.
