Last night I had a dream in which I dreamt that I had awakened to a knock on my door. For the most part the dream was pretty mundane, except that I noticed that a friend had a multi-coloured striped shirt on the first time that I looked at him, then a solid colored shirt the next time I looked. I also noticed that my computer was missing from my desk.
At this point I realized that I was still asleep and dreaming and began trying to awaken myself. Usually this is not very difficult to do, but this time I had to literally tear my way through the "walls" of the dream to wake up.
This afternoon I was talking with my partner about this dream--and dreams in general--and she said that, like myself, she dreaded dreams in which she *thought* she had awakened and everything seemed pretty much in place because those kind usually turn nightmarish. For me these kind of dreams always turn nightmarish, which is why I struggled through the very fabric of the dream, even though nothing bad had happened yet. It's just that I knew that it would.
Anyhow, my question is this: Does anyone else have this type of experiences? And if so, why is it that these types of dreams tend to turn ugly?
