      Getting Tackled by DC's

This is a little weird, I have to admit, but it is becoming a serious problem for me when I'm trying to LD. It seems that almost every time I realize that I'm dreaming, I get tackled by some random DC and woken up(usually I don't even see them). It's gotten so bad that now every time I become lucid I think "oh no I'm going to get tackled!" and my fear of it happening causes it to happen. Then even if I can get past the random tackle I usually end up running into a grim reaper type thing somewhere which comes after me and wakes me up.

The biggest problem I'm having here is that I'm fearing that these things will happen, so of course they do. Any suggestions on how to stop this?

I constantly used to have this problem... almost as if your dreams are expelling you from them.

The answer is simple. Since you have complete control over what goes on in your head (regardless of whether you know it or not) you must either resist the tackle or tell your DC to gtfo! It's easy to say, but much harder to apply. In short, you must overcome it yourself! Not much we can say.

You do NOT have complete control over what goes on in your brain. The unconscious is the master when it comes to subconscious perception.

Isn't mastering subconscious functions what lucid dreaming is all about? If you are capable of overcoming your unconscious functions, then you have the ability to control them. I am a firm believer that humans are possible at controlling whatever they like about themselves. Does this mean anyone ever does it, or that it's easy? No, not neccessarily.

I had a similar problem, or a certain DC alway coming and doing unwanted things to me and ruining my dreams. I had to confront this DC and tell them to stop it. You may want to spend some time thinking about how it will feel to confront the tackling DCs. You don't need to imagine how they will react, just how you will say it and how saying it will feel. Maybe draw some pictures if you are an artist.

I also have something like that going on, but I invite the problem by antagonizing the DC's, rather than random attack as you are experiencing.

I'm going to try some advice that some one gave me on becoming insubstantial, like smoke, so anything that touches me will pass right thru. That may be a problem if you don't even see it coming, but maybe you can incubate it ahead of time.

I wonder if you could remember to yell "BACK OFF!" as soon as you become lucid; maybe that would help. On the other hand, maybe that is just perpetuating they cycle, if it is happening because you expect it to.

Let us know what if you figure out something that works. I would be interested in that.

No, I don't do any sort of drug beyond allergy medication

I like the idea of audibly commanding my DC's, which has fixed many of my problems in lucids in the past. The problem here is that it's almost instantaneous and out of nowhere. I realize I'm dreaming, then I get tackled from behind and woken up as I hit the ground. Perhaps if I began my LD's by yelling "stop!" or something as soon as I became lucid it would help.

I'll try a couple things and post when I find something that works consistently. Right now I think my best bet is shouting out as soon as I become lucid as two of you suggested, but I fear that dealing with the grim reaper character will prove to be more difficult. After all, it's not easy to negotiate with death incarnate

Yea, that one might be harder, but hopefully the same tactics will work.

      Good luck.

I wholeheartedly agree with that, but I also think this embodies a certain amount of cooperation between them. I doubt the correct method is to be forceful and intrusive about it.

i had a similar problem. My bro (as a dc) wouldnt stop following me in this LD i was having. I would run, and hide, and i even spit on him . but he ended up running after me, finding me, and spitting back. He ruined that LD. The next LD he started following me, i just yelled GO AWAY!!! as loud as i could at him. he grumbled a bit, but he left lol.

just yell at em. they will leave.

the problem isnt just that you think the dc will tackle you though. Thats just one of the problems. The big problem is that you think that the tackling will wake you up. You got to teach yourslef that there isnt any reason you should wake up unless its of your own accord.

Just an update on my problem, it seems to have just vanished after I posted about it. I've had two LD's since my initial post and none of them featured random tackles or grim reapers.

Perhaps just thinking about the solutions relaxed my mind to the point that I'm not subconsciously worried about them anymore, thus stopping them from happening at all.

I suggest accepting it's going to happen without dreading it. Then once you're about to get tackled, engage the unruly DC in an epic one-on-one duel! The stakes: If you win, the DC leaves you the hell alone.

Oopsie, just saw your last post. Bad trigger finger!
My idea still sounds fun though.
