It seems the Fire is nearly out.

Hello all, it's been a while since my last post here, and, for that matter, my last LD. I will do my best to keep this to the point, perhaps to the appreciation of anyone who may have read my postings...

My first experience with Lucid Dreaming came at a young age, and since, I have always yearned, if only in the bottom of my heart, to have that feeling again.

These years later, a little program called Stumble randomly pointed me to this site. Tearing through the material, I was filled with a fearfully strong drive. I chose not to use any form of reality checking, and kept no form of Dream Journal.

I wish I could say that I was simply a natural, but I should think not to lie so blatantly. In retrospect, it was likely from that lovely Drive that I found success.

I went on, loving every dream, lucid or not (I am tempted to discourse on our usage of the term 'Lucid,' as it seems many have lost the full meaning) .

After a few nasty turns of fortune, of which I have explained in perhaps too great detail in previous postings, my dream recall and general dream Lucidity was shot. It seems that with these losses, I have also lost that precious drive.

This is my reason for coming back today; the fire is dwindling, and my experience may be the only thing keeping it burning at all. I fear that nothing may rekindle it to its previous glory. My longing for lucidity remains, but I feel so... burdened when I attempt any serious effort.

The rapidly shrinking scroll bar on my post tells me it is about time to wrap this up. I have gained so much from this site, and now I have come forward with the last thing I expected to fall short.

Has any soul here overcome this hardship? I have begun some rudimentary techniques, but it is a slow and uncertain process. It is bittersweet that I can now look upon the 'Newbie' section and feel envy.

      Who might help me today?

If lucidity is truely important to you you will find a way. Firey excitement and passionate comitment are unnecessary. Steady perserverence and commitment are.

Just as a boat is unnecessary to cross a sea? I thank you for your input, but I fear that my challenge is not of most solved here; insight and recycled lectures matter less, and experience all the more.

You'll have to forgive me if I come off as a bit spiteful, as that is far from my intent. Once again, thank you for your time.

Well, if its the techniques that you are getting sick of, maybe you can just take a long break? People here say it works if you're having a dry spell. If you still want lucid dreams, then I would say that this is the case...

However, if this is not a dry spell, and you seriously have lost the DRIVE to LD, then I don't think there is any way to help. You shouldn't need to be convinced to want to LD, lucidity should be an incentive in itself. If you don't want it, then that's that, but it seems like just reflecting on your best lucid dreams would "light that fire" again.

Why not keep a journal and do reality checks? Really, those are your best bet...

I suppose my best option would be to keep a dream journal and... well, more or less wait. Thanks to all, sincerely, for your help.

Italianmonkey said what I had hoped to hear: a reassurance from someone who had managed through a similar situation.

Thanks again, as it means a terrible amount that you should all find time for another. Even now, I feel perhaps the tiniest bit of the ol' fervor.

Well, last night, after posting, I started doing all of the things that reminded me of learning to LD. This included music, videos, etc. It really is amazing how well the arts can bring you back...

After a few hours of sleep, I had my first LD in a fair while! My dream recall has deteriorated a bit, so I cannot remember all in exact detail. I do remember, however, that I was in my living room (My prime dream-sign), and that it seemed like just after sunrise. Everything was in brilliant detail, and all the colors around me were impossibly vivid. I will not soon forget looking out my window at the new sun, and speaking the words, "I'm Back..."

Forgive me if my writing skills are slightly lacking today, as I feel it is difficult to find any words at all to describe this.

Many, MANY, thanks to all who brought me back to this stage, as I was terribly close to leaving all together. I suppose it really is darkest before dawn.

Without your help in this matter, this well may have been my farewell message. I can only hope that others in this situation can find it in themselves to carry on, even if just one minute longer.

Thanks to all, and good luck!

That's great! Nothing like a lucid after a long while to get you back into it.

      See you around.
