      cool LD! (my first WILD?)

so this morning, i did my usual routine when i don't have anywhere to be. i wake up and go back to sleep about 2 or 3 times. this isn't necessarily done ONLY for the possibility of LDs, but it's certainly a plus. as i'm lying in bed after waking up and going back to sleep a few times, my mind begins to wonder. i then find myself basically in a (non-lucid) dream state. while swimming across a river, i discover a baby hippopotamus swimming beside me! then, i realize a tugging at my feet. i think, "oh no, it's the baby's mom!" i try to struggle, and then i realize that i am in an almost paralyzed state (SP). i eventually somewhat pull myself out of this state, but i'm still partially asleep. after that, basically drift back into the thinking/half dreaming state. then, that state eventually becomes a full blown lucid dream (not triggered by a RC, i don't believe). and let me tell you... this LD was one of the best i have ever had. i'm running around in disbelief at the vividness and realness of the dream scene. i'm honestly having to do reality checks over and over in order to tell myself that it was in fact, a dream. i'm running around so excited, telling all the dream characters "this is a dream! this rocks!" they only responded with "really?!" hahaha, anyways, it was a great experience. it was also one of the longest LDs i've had! would you guys consider this a WILD? since i sort of just jumped into the dream scene. however, aside from the SP, i did not experience any HIs or anything of that sort. it was almost like i was too deep in thought/sleepy to even notice them (if they were there at all).

wedontexist, I'm not sure that this was a true WILD as you did lose consciousness.. as you stated here:

True WILDs have you going consciously into a LD without falling into a non-lucid dream first.. in other words.. one minute you're just body awake/mind awake and the next you're body asleep/mind awake and lucid.

But does it really matter if it was a WILD or a DILD? It sounds like you had one incredible LD!

I'm so happy for you and may you have MANY more!

I agree with Clairity. It sounded more like dream re-entry, to a degree. I had a few minor LDs when I was younger using that technique, so personally, I'd recommend looking it up to see if it might help you. Is that the first time you've gone in and out of a dream like that? It could have just been a fluke, but it's worth looking into.
