      Staying in a dream

So I seem to mostly have lucid dreams when I sleep for the night then wake up for an hour or two then go back and take a nap... just as i fall asleep I just fall straight into lucid dreaming. I assume that this is the point where I'm most lightly asleep but its also the easiest place for me to go straight into lucids. Today I had a really good one for the first time in a few weeks

But the problem is is that because I'm in a kind've light stage of sleep sometimes I'll be in the middle of a lucid and trying to do something then all of a sudden it will all dissapear and I'll just be awake and staring at the inside of my eyelids... today I was in a lucid dream and I "opened my eyes" and thought I was awake back at my house but then I realized oh wait I'm actually in my dorm room and I was able to just go outside "my house" and proceed to have more lucid dream time. but then after a while it happened again and I was just awake and staring at my eyelids... and I tried to tell myself I'm still dreaming and just picture a dream scene... but I couldn't and I wound up just falling into non-lucid sleep. Sometimes in lucids its hard for me to stay in the dream for a very long time... how can you go back into lucidity when this happens? When the dream scene all of a sudden vanishes? Thanks

If I understand it correctly you want to know how to stay in LD's longer. There are a few things to do to achieve it:

      1) You can look at your hands from time to time. That'll make you less excited about your surrounding thus you will stay there longer.

      2) Use words you are certain about that will make your dream longer.

      3) In the dream make yourself a talisman, something that will help you to stay in the dream without worrying too much. A rock, or something small will do.

      4) Don't make fast moves with your eyes, the slower will do better.

About returning to lucidity, try to stand up off the bed. If you're lucky you will stand up in a lucid dream.
