      waking up after REM

I don't wake up atomatically after REM but the times i've set my alarm in pupose of trying WBTB I notice that I have better recall than if i don't wake up, making me recall like 5 dreams instead of my normal one. I've heard that if u don't wake after REM chances are that u forget the dream u had during that REM.

So my question is, can I somehow train my subconciousness to wake me up after REM? i dont want to use my alarm all the time cause it's loud and a horrible to wake up. so any ideas?

I'd suggest autosuggestion, tell yourself as you're falling asleep that you want to wake up after your dreams/REM sessions and that you will remember and right down your dreams after waking. If I set a strong enough intention it works for me, give it a try!

You can always drink a ton of water too, that'll get you up a few times in the night .

k, that sounds good, buthow should I say it, like "i will wake and remeber my dreams after REM" isn't that a bit complicated for the brain?

Hi, I myself wake up after REM...but I have tried using a light to wake up too. U may want to try that....hook up a small spotlight to a dimmer aimed at Ur pillow from a distance and adjust the brightness acordingly that suits U without being too intrusive but at the same time wakes U up nicely. The timing when the light goes off is based on Ur projected REM period onto a plug-in timer. Ur subconcious may be so used to the light going off that it may generate a light to wake U up even when U did not use it...happened to me before.

huh, that light idea is interesting... where did you get your spotlight and timer at? for triggering lucids it might work like a novadreamer would eh?

for waking you up it seems to me like i might rather just wake up to my alarm clock. i usually don't like to turn on light unless i do WBTB, otherwise i just use a booklight to write in my dream journal. but i understand some kind of alarms might be really annoying, so a light could be a nicer way to wake up.

yeah if you want to say something simpler just say, "i will wake up after my dreams", or, "i will wake up, remember my dreams, and write them down". that's about what i usually say.
