What's the very first dream you can remember?

I mean the oldest, the one you had when you were youngest.

I've got two, both from about the time I was 4 or 5. I don't remember which came first, so in no particular order they are:

      1) I am in my room playing with my cousin. Suddenly, one of my eyeballs falls out of its socket and rolls away. I pick it up but I'm not sure how to put it back in my head. I ask my cousin for help but he doesn't know either. So, I go around the house asking my whole family for help one by one. It's around Thanksgiving so there's a lot of extended family there, but everybody's too busy to help me.

      2) Balls of fire are falling from the sky like rain. My whole family has to go inside and seek shelter. The sky's gone black and it looks like the world may be ending.

Those two have always stuck with me.

I can't remember the first, but once in a while I'll remember a memory I had as a kid, but many years later I realized I was dreaming when I remembered that, and it didn't really happen.

      Odd, eh?

I can't answer this one because if I think about things that happened to me I still can't figure out if what I think was reality was really a dream and vice versa...

I was about three, I had a nightmare, I opened the door to the bathroom and sitting there was some cartoon character...I don;t remember which one...but he had the bottom half of a snake, wasn't supposed to...so I freaked out and ran, woke up and had to sleep with my mom I was so scared.

I remember my first dream where I realized I could feel things, also kind of a nightmare, I was being chased by wolves and when they bubmped up against me they were furry and warm..

The very first dream I can remember was when I was little. I'm not sure how old I was, but I remember waking up in a crib, so it must have been when I was pretty young.

I was sitting on a huge rock overlooking a very peaceful ocean. The sky was purple and there were clouds drifting by. I think it was sunset because I remember lots of colors in the sky. An animal came up to me--I think it was a leopard of some sort--and it asked me what I was doing. I replied "I'm waiting for my dragon to come."

And that's it. It was a recurring dream that I had a lot as a child, but the leopard wasn't always there. Sometimes it was just me, sitting on that rock and looking up at the sky, waiting for something. I stopped having that dream early in my childhood, and I haven't had it since.

I've never told anyone that before, and no one's ever asked that question. Great topic!

I remember walking up into the field at my old house the light was purplish, which I now reminds me of one night I was shrooming on a full moon.

Walked up to the field and a large bedraggled wolf jumped out of a pit at me jaws wide, its eyes were the most frightening part though, they seemed human but they were crazed, mad... I woke up right before it got me I was so terrified.

Reading other people's responses reminded me of another dream I had which may or may not have been before the other two.

      3) My toy alligator came to life and tried to get me. It was a real toy that I had, a little hollow plastic or rubber alligator. It looked pretty realistic, although the bottom half of its jaw was missing - which made it look even freakier. Anyway, I got up on top of my bed to get away from it. Since it couldn't follow me up, it just crawled under the bed. That was at that age where you can't really separate dreams from reality, and for a long time I was convinced it was still somehow under there waiting for me.

Yeah, and for the longest time, I was convinced that some big, green dragon would come and rescue me from my kiddie world because I felt so strongly that I didn't belong. The dumbass never showed up! He's fired.

      First dream

Well lets see, its a nightmare, its recurring, And the first I remember Having it, was when I was 3, and had a REALLY bad fever. (Btw my earliest memory was when I was 1 1/2, I was walking into the dining room, and I crapped in my diaper. I know this because I remember a table that we got rid of about 6 months before my 2nd B-day)

Anyhow, back to the topic at hand, I was running away from the shadow of a mutant t-rex. And my brothers and sisters were all huddled in the center whispering to each other, I was trying the whole time to alert them of the iminent danger of this Shadow coming to gobble me up. but they would never listen to me! So for the longest time, I would run around in a circle, Fleeing from this shadow.

Kindof dumb now that I think about it.

      Good topic tho

I remember some dreams from when I was 2 or 3 about being chased around by the cookie monster trying to eat me... I have a really vague memory of waking up from a nightmare and breastfeeding, but I don't remember what the nightmare was about...

I used to have a recurring dream about bald aliens being after me. This was when I was 5 (1966).

At the time, we had a red volkswagen, but in my dreams we had a small powder blue station wagon.

In 1968, we bought a powder blue Opel station wagen. IT WAS THE CAR FROM MY DREAM.

That has weirded me out till this day.

Interesting that so many of the responses are scary dreams.

The Cookie Monster isn't really cross-eyed, he's googly-eyed. There's a slight difference. He and Oscar the Grouch were always my favorites. Btw, did they phaze Oscar out or something? I never seem to see him anymore, but then again I don't watch a lot of Sesame Street these days.

The first dream I can remember having was inspired by Nightmare on Elm Street, which will always hold a special place with me as the first scare I ever really had...and I mean this literally. My fear of this movie and character is very ironic because I distinctly remember the very moment I learned that everyone dies...and this all happened well before I learned about death. The movie taught me what fear was, without explaining why I should be afraid..and to this day, traces of my deeply rooted fear of the dark and Freddy still carry with me.. ..and likely always will.
This specific dream was strongly influenced by a particular Nightmare on Elm St. (who knows which one). But I couldn't have been more than 4 or 5 years old; it was well before I was in school.
I was in a dark, arched tunnel with damp, dank surfaces. I remember working my way toward one end, and for some reason, never looking behind me. At the end was a distant glow of a white light, and I was seemingly going nowhere fast. I don't know why, but I felt compelled to turn around...I looked behind me and the other end was still no more than 20 or so feet away...as if I hadn't made any progress. And just then, the white glow gave way to a dark silhouette that used very long appendages to climb up onto the floor. As it pulled itself up, the light was perfectly profiling the creature. It soon began to come nearer and nearer until I identified the being as some giant bug (eerily resemblent of "The Fly"), which beared the head of Freddy Krueger. I remember being slightly disturbed in my rest and suddenly waking up in my bed... only to find the creature's leg reaching inside my window sill. It pulled itself up and Freddy's face grinned hauntingly...that's when I woke up screaming for my mommy.

This is just one and the first of many similar occurrences, most have slipped from memory by now, but I will always remember this particular one vividly, as well as how I felt each time I woke up. My mom was always there to tell me it was okay, then I would sleep in her bed with her.

EDIT: aah, I just watched Sesame Street the other day! No Grouch...Elmo, Bigbird and FozzyBear were the only ones that made an appearance on that last one...but you can't have 'em all in ONE show.

one of the first dreams i remember was in the late 1960,s when i was 3 or 4 years old..i dreamed i was in bed in the world of gumby and poky watching gumby zip around on the floor around my bed ..like he moved on TV..without moving his leggs..this was scary to me!..guess that,s why i can remember it over 30 years later....i think alot of our child dreams came from watching TV..when we were more impressionable...a friend told me once about an early child hood dream he had about the fat Albert Bill Cosby show..where a big red cartoon heart was chasing him around the neghbourhood...i can tell by the way he was telling his dream that it really scared him

I was 9 if Im not wrong. A group of freaky monster chased me. I was running away like hell, along with my cat. We run and run ....... untill we're almost caught. Suddenly my cat transform to be a big tiger. He lift me up behind his back and we manage to escape. Then I woke up. My cat was right beside me starring at me. Right away I felt sick (fever). I told my grandma about it. She said my cat have rescue me from the evil spirit. I love cat untill now.
