      What am I doing wrong??

      I've tried WILD a couple of times, but last night I did everything right (I think) and it still didn't work.

      I went to bed at 10:30, then woke up at 4:15 without an alarm (it was natural). I decided at first to do a FILD, but I was too awake to do it. So I decided on a WILD. I got out of bed, went to the bathroom, and just stayed up for about 5 minutes.

      I then got back into bed and layed on my back. For about 20-30 minutes, I focused on my breathing, and never moved my body at all, except for occasional twitches. All I noticed was a change in my breathing, and I started getting a ring in my ears (this was around 15 minutes into the WILD).

      So after about 25 minutes, I just gave up because nothing was happening. What am I doing wrong?

      However, this did result in a DILD, but I really want to WILD because I heard they are much more vivid.

      Try this;

      Wake up in the middle of the night, dont move too much.
      Just sort of think a few things, maybe do a few math problems in your head, but dont move around alot.
      Then after a minute or so, still feeling very tired, slowly get comfortable and start focusing on breathing.
      Each exhale makes you feel heavier, focus on that and beleive it. You are focusing on your exhales, each on making you heavier. Pretty soon, you will start to feel a sinking sensation, if you dont, start thinking about it. Sinking down.
      Think of your dream, really focus on it, keep telling yourself you are dreaming.

      You might hear sounds, i get a very loud sound of wind in my ears, and i feel like im on a massage mat, vibrating all over the place. It sounds a little scary but man, its awesome xD

      WILD can be very difficult for some people. Some people may lay in bed for an hour and finally WILD, others can get it within minutes. My first successful WILD came after my 6th night of trying. I laid in bed after waking up, didn't even get up. Woke my mind up a little bit, and as I laid there with my eyes closed, I could feel my body falling asleep. From there, images started appearing in front of my eyes, and then formed a complete one, and then I was dreaming. The total time must've been maybe 10 minutes from the start of my WILD into my dream.

      But it does differ with each person. Keep trying, and practice relaxation techniques, and you'll get it soon.

      As you're hearing the ringing in your ears or seeing stuff in SP, try to imagine being in your backyard or where ever and how that actually feels to be there.

      If that works, then you should be pulled in.

      I think the reason it took awhile was cause you hit the wrong time in your sleep cycle. (one of the reasons it takes people an hour or just minutes i think is just how long before your next REM cycle) My longest dreams happen just 3 hours after I'm asleep. try setting an alarm for that time.
