The "Was I Lucid" answer thing

well, i thought that so mmany people are asking if they were lucid or if it was a lucid dream, we can make a thread answering it. it could have general guidelines for judging if you are lucid. questions like:

Did you know it was a dream.

Did you make at least one willful action in your dream?

      Were you making choices?

If you felt lightheaded and floopy (I do not know if everyone feels like that in a lucid dream)?

did you see through your own eyes or was it like a 3rd person movie?

      Were you excited?

i can't think of any more questions now, but sorta like that and it would be a sticky and people could help themselves...

      what do you think?

P.S. sorry for bad spelling/grammar, i am sick and feel like crap

Personally, I don't think that it's hard to tell when you are lucid or not. You just know when you are. It's some sort of gut feeling for me.
Willing to talk about/listen to anything you have to say.

If you know that you are dreaming, then you are lucid. If you aren't sure if you were lucid, you probably weren't. When you are lucid, you know.

At least its like that for me.

It seems the answer is always very straight-forward -- if you knew you were dreaming (and, in fact, were dreaming), then you were lucid. I think it only muddies the definition by getting into issues about control, etc. Obviously there are degrees of clarity, awareness and control, but the test for whether a dream was a lucid dream should stay as bright line as possible.

I do think it's an interesting point about making a willful choice. I've had dreams where I considered the possibility of dreaming and even sort of accepted the fact that I was dreaming but never actually made any choices dealing with this awareness. Rather, I simply accepted the "this is a dream" as a part of the dream logic and lost interest in it. It's not the same as the idea that you can merely dream that you had a lucid dream (a notion I find cyclical), but instead more of my dream logic not recognizing any particular significance in the realization that I'm in a dream.

      Does that make sense?

I think it's best to keep it simple.

You realizing you're in a dream = lucidity
Even if you're only lucid for a split second.

The other things you mentioned are more along the lines of dream control and clarity, both of which you can also have in non lucid dreams.

i agree with all of you but the new people are always ask and do not understand the simple question.

btw, vex, how can you have control and it be a non lucid? id you are not aware, you cannot control.

I think usually if you're asking yourself that question, then the answer is yes

There's no definite answer. For me, my conscious mind is never completely awake, and my unconscious mind is never completely asleep. When I catch myself halfway through a dream, I'm maybe 50/50 conscious and unconscious. You can't just say "Completely conscious" or "Completely unconscious" because it's always a mix.

Haha who cares...If you're not sure you were lucid then it was probably a short dream and there was nothing much to it. End of story. If you're lucid, you just know.
