      Violent Shaking

I've noticed, when I try to Wild, when my body falls asleep I tend to get spasms and by whole body jerks and wakes me up. It's not painful nor that uncomfortable it's just an annoyance and usual wakes me up..
      Firstly. Why?
Secondly. How do I get get rid of it?

Hey! Hows it going. Anyway, maybe something maybe is be stressing you out while your trying to WILD. Maybe some type of meditation or ambient music in the background could help lessen the severity of it.

      Hope I could help some.

yea it happened to me today.exept it was very painful. Still shaking from it.
      You loose yourself, you reappear
You suddenly find you got nothing to fear
Alone you stand with nobody near
When a trembling distant voice, unclear
Startles your sleeping ears to hear
That somebody thinks they really found you.

By that, do you mean that your body just jerks once? If so, it sounds like a hypnic jerk. They are common, and pretty much everybody experiences them from time to time.
I don't know of any way to avoid them. Maybe someone else does.

Hey shan-chan, like lum said, it's a hypnic jerk.

Unfortunately, you're one of the few people who experiences HI (hypnogogic imagery) in a way that causes a lot of muscle spasms. ie. hypnic jerks.

It could be worse though, some people experience painful electrical shock sensations

I'm also not sure how you can avoid them. I think you just learn to deal with them over time

Maybe someone else has more knowledge on this

Oh crap. Yeah...It says about the falling out of a tree experience. Sometimes when I fall asleep in class or on a bus I jerk awake.. : /
So, I wiki'ed it but it doesn't say why it happens..anyone know?

No one really knows. Some say it might be an old defense mechanism to avoid falling out of trees when falling asleep. Other say it's the brain confusing falling asleep with tripping, and your body will try to correct itself.

I have hypnic jerks a lot when I try to fall asleep, and the few times I have had time to wild after a while my legs would get little twitches, also involuntary, but much less violent of a spasm than a hypnic jerk and with none of the tripping , falling imagery i get when i have a hypnic jerk...
would this still be some sort of hypnic jerk or something else?

Some theorise that the subconscious is trying to figure out if you're still awake - if you move, bang it's over.
Sounds a bit of a stretch though

Thats pretty much it, an evolutionary lag. Some of our ancestors used to sleep in trees, and the behaviour is them, involuntarily trying to balance themselves while asleep (trying to grasp branches if unbalanced). Those who had it survived, and now it plagues you today. Thats one hypothesis.

My girlfriend gets these all the time.

Only problem is, she's a martial arts, self defence, and full contact fighting instructor. When she kicks, it hurts. Bad. The other night she had a little hypnic jerk that sent a Krav-Maga elbow strike right into my nose.

I used to get that, but only when I was really tired. Thankfully I don't get it anymore, don't worry too much about it, it'll go after a while. Then come again the next Anyway I didn't know that people with it get HI wicked! I get HI!

At least it was above the belt. Try waking up to a midnight knee strike to the groin. Sometimes I think I should sleep with a cup.
