      Problem w/ dream (stabilizing LD's)

Basically, I cannot stablize LD's when I get them. I've really had only a couple LD's that were totally stable, and the rest were destroyed when I either tried to summon something, pick something up. Take for instance, one I had last night. I don't know if any of you have ever played a game with horrible fps w/ a crappy video card. It was alot like that - choppy, and blurred. I rubbed my palms and stabilized it, and tried to create something in my hand, but then it all went black (dream ended, but I was still sleeping, just no imagery). Do you guys find it better to make something appear in back of you and then pick it up, rather than summoning it right into your hands?

How do you guys stablize LD's once you get them? I think my excitement when it happens certainly doesn't help. I'm not getting 1 second LD's, but they aren't long if I try to do too much.

I never find the need to stabalize, but I lost lucidity when I had sex so what do I know? I was medium lucidity. Let me suggest, stimulating your senses. By this I mean feeling things around you at the very start, looking at things around you, and knowing it is dream. Really there is no better way than this. Also, I usually spawn things behind doors, well at least once I spawned something behind a door. Only had 1 medium lucid, enough to do something I wanted.

I recommend getting used to what being lucid FEELS like by grounding yourself in your dreams.

I know when I first become lucid, I have to fight that initial rush of adrenalin. I do this by telling myself to calm down, breathing naturally (or a little slower) and then I try to "ground" myself in the dream (i.e., make it as lucid as it can be) instead of immediately racing to do something before I lose lucidity.

For those new to lucid dreaming, I advise that you don't try to set the lucid world on fire your first few dreams.. don't try to do too many tricks, summon people, etc. Simply go with the flow and take it all in. Get used to what being lucid FEELS like so you can ground yourself in your dreams.. that's when the tricks/stunts can happen.

Your first few dreams simply act like a tourist in a new place.. go sightseeing and take in all the different colors and sounds. You may try to increase your vividness by confidently declaring "increase lucidity" or "clarity now" but that would be the extent of control I would recommend for struggling dreamers.

One of the tricks I use to "ground" myself is to "touch" things. By touching.. I mean really "feeling" them. Get into how they feel.. are they hot, cold, smooth, rough, etc. (this also increases the vividness of the dream along with helping me remain in it longer).

Just remember that "the deeper the level of lucidity.. the better your lucid experience should be"
