Unless you first went to sleep and then either woke yourself up naturally or via an alarm.

Well melatonin helps you go to sleep quicker, but if you use it often it can affect your natural melatonin production. [Or so I hear.]

If I were you I would try as hard as possible not to use chemicals to aid sleep. It won't do you any good in the long run.

Lately I've had some great success with letting myself *almost* fall asleep, and then actively trying to WILD.

I just let my mind wander as I would if I were just normally going to sleep, then once I realize that I was dozing off, I start saying "I'm dreaming, I'm dreaming..." until I go to SP and eventually a WILD.

It might not be really quicker than usual but it *FEELS* quicker because at least you aren't boring yourself to tears by counting or something. Also, the things that distract me during other WILD techniques (itches, partner snoring, cat moving) don't seem to bother me as much because by the time I start trying to WILD, i'm already incredibly relaxed from almost falling asleep.

      I hope this helps

I know there are huge threads devoted to the topic, but exercise in the morning always makes me fall right asleep at night.

Otherwise I am in bed with my eyes closed for hours, not sleeping. Sucks.

      want SP?

1- lie on your back when you go to sleep

2- try to be on the end of a ceffeine crash. being in a state of fatigue or exhaustion is the key

      3- feel the buzz

I remember reading in a topic somewhere that if you lie really really still and don't move anything for a while, you'll reach SP. The name is "how to trick your body into falling asleep" or something like that. =/
