If u belive in LDs and OBE how do u know?

I don't beleive in OoBE it seems unrealistic and i don't see how it works but... thats not my point. My point is if u beleive in LDs and OBE how do you know what is what and if your going to say in an OoBE u come out of your body how do you know its not a FA?

      P.S. I still don't beleive in OoBE

... I would be open minded about everything. Just look at Lucid Dreams. How can they be possible? You think about it, and truly ponder what just might be possible.

I believe in OBEs because I've had some on accident, and I didn't fall asleep first. But, for all I know, OBEs might be some unmystical mind trick, like a hallucination. I haven't entirely made up my mind.

LDs have scienific backing where as OoBEs have none and can be FAs or Lucid dreams with rules that your mind makes

Lucid Dreaming has scientific evidence to document it's existence instead of simply hearsay and unsubstantiated beliefs.

I don't know if there are any scientific papers/evidence of OBEs, but I'd suggest they're dreams/hallucinations. Be interesting to see what would happen if these people did reality checks!

I believe OBEs are definitely possible

for me the difference is real life observation. The person who is having an outer body experience should be able to report something that is actually happening in the world around them, even if its spying on a loved one who is munching in the kitchen

the lucid dream remains in dreams

my first encounter was an OBE believe me its real , some pple might think its crazy but then again the concept of lucid dreaming is crazy and it is real as in you are able to take control , OBE is the same might sound crazy but its real .

I think OOBEs are real, but nothing at all out of the ordinary. You have just half fallen asleep.

I have had two in my lifetime.
Both times I was very ill and feverish, it is just a hallucination.

      I believe anything is possible.

I've had LDs that feel OBE-ish so I suppose it would be possible to have OBEs that feel LD-ish.

I assume my experiences are lucid dreams because that's what I set out to do.

The first time I had what I accept as an OBE, it was purely unintentional, and I wasn't certain it was what it seemed to be, so I decided to experiment...I decided I would TRY to go out of my body...The first time it had happened, I was sleeping on the floor, so I figured sleeping on the floor again would provide the best opportunity...
As I started to fall asleep, I sensed a sort of *pow* in my chest area, and woke up..I was on my back on the floor, and I looked around and saw everyhing in its usual place in the room...I remembered I had wanted to go out of my body, and so to determine whether I was or not, I decided to raise my right arm...I could feel my arm raise up and stop in the air, but when I looked, my arm was still lying on the floor...That scared me so badly that I apparently popped right back into my body, and I rolled over onto my side, wrapped my arms across my chest and started praying really hard that it would never happen again...
Another time, many years later, I had gone to sleep on my bed, and on my back, and I awoke to find myself up near the ceiling by the wall...I felt I was drifting to the right, and when I drifted in front of the window and looked out, I felt that all I needed to do was to just go through the window, but I was afraid the glass would stop me..As I debated and tried to work up the nerve to try, I drifted up first, and could smell stale cigarette smoke on the top of the curtains, and then I drifted on past the window altogether, still to the right....Obviously I had no control over *me*, or I would have at least stayed by the window...This instance did not frighten me, however, I did not even look down or to my left..If I had seen my body in the bed, I probably would have been scared tootless...

There is tenuous evidence for the actual existence of OoBEs in the accounts of surgical patients. Accounts vary from details of the operating theatre, including conversations had while the patient was under general anesthesia, to wild rides on astral planes and the old 'white light tunnel' scenario.

Fact is though, and what makes this relevant to the differences between an LD and/or subsequent FA, is that when under anesthetic the brains neural transmitters are blocked to the area where dreaming occurs along with the pain receptors (obviously) and therefore the normal circadian rhythm is disrupted and REM does not occur. This makes dreams, lucid or otherwise impossible.

Besides, I think most people who have had both experiences can tell the difference. I've had four OoBEs and there is no way that it was an LD.

Especially since during one of them I was actually awake!
