      WBTB Question

If I understand this right, with WBTB you wake up after about 5 hours, remain awake for a while and then fall back into dreaming while trying to retain awareness. Have I understood it so far? If I have, how long should I remain awake and what am I supposed to do during that time?

      Thanks.

to my understanding you stay awake for around 30 mins. During the 30 mins u think about a LD or read about it etc... then go back to bed thinking about it all.

I reccomend 60 to 90 minutes, 90 preferably. Ive tried just 30 before and my success rate is much worse. I can only think of one time when I stayed up 90 minutes and it hasnt worked.

Follow my links for more information about WBTB method. The last link is very effective. You dont need to keep awareness before you fall back asleep. You just fall asleep using any technique you are comfortable with. If you do a wild usually then I believe you keep awareness until you enter the dream.

      Sleep for 5-6 hours
Wake up and GET OUT OF BED.
Read online articles about lucid dreaming or go on Dream Views for 30-60 minutes.
      Then go back to sleep.

Sometimes I don't even use any technique I just fall asleep normally without doing any technique and I have a lucid dream.

Infact, sometiems I don't even wake up for a long time and I still have a lucid dream. It varies with time.

I haven't heard yet of staying up for 90 mins! I'll try that tonight though.
This morning with WBTB I thought about doing a WILD, but it didn't really happen, so I fell asleep normally and had a LD. What else, other than MILD or WILD, would you recommend doing with WBTB?

do you know how long it usually takes you to go to sleep? I stayed awake for an hour and it took me another hour to fall asleep

If youve slept just 5 hours 90 minutes is best. If youve slept a bit longer say 7 hours, then Id only stay up an hour, but the key is to have your mind alert, while your body still wanting some rest.

That's all I do. I either enter the dream aware or become lucid very quickly afterwards from the constant thought of dreaming for 90 minutes.

*It takes me just 15 minutes at most to fall back asleep. The key is to wake up a bit early so you can still fall asleep easily enough.

Sleep until a little bit before dawn.
Open your window to let fresh air into your room. (Keep it open)
Take 5 min walk outside. (If you live in a friendly neighborhood. !Important!)
      Go back to sleep.

That works every time for me. I tried reading about lucid dreaming but it doesn't work as well. Maybe it's just me.

Thanks for your advice. Currently I'm in the process of working on a WBTB....it's 3:12 am and I've got about 35 minutes before I'm going back to bed. I'd do the walk, but that would require me changing into day clothes and right now I don't feel up to that. So, I came here....

My new favorite technique is WILD, the only problem with my lucid dreams is they don't seem to last

THey get longer trust me. If theyre real short make sure to make a mental note that the enxt time you get lucid you will get very involved and make a plan for yourself. Decide what to do and everything. I used to nly have 1-5 minute lucid dreams, where 5 was an amazing treat. Now my LD's are 10-20 minutes average with occaisonal long ones(30-60 minutes). Just dont stress, cause Im sure a long one awaits you soon.

That's a good book, but I honestly believe that the members here can explain things much better when they put their heads together. And he has a lot of basic things on there, I'm not too big of a fan of it.. I think it's a bit overrated.

No one ever claimed to have invented it here. I promote it because I want to see people have success, and theres lots of details that you can tweak to make it work better.
