Is freaky a good enough answer for ya?

I'll never understand how someone can try to WILD for two or more hours. That's nuts.

I wonder if you did slip into a dream without knowing it, as often times I've laid in bed for a while and then wonder if I'm dreaming or not evnt though it feels as if I'm wide awake. Usually a reality check will confirm if I'm dreaming.

I'm thinking you actually were asleep, just dreaming that you were still awake in bed and that REM episode was part of that dream.

I could be wrong. I have been in the past.

Next time you try WILD, make sure you're good and tired and it shouldn't take as long. Two hours is just too long, in my opinion.

Well the eye movement in the REM phase is not something happening automaically. It happens because your eyes are not affected by sleep paralysis, and therefore moving as you look around inside your dream. This means that "no sleep = no dream = no REM".
So as far as i know, this couldn't have had anything with REM to do. Sure that it wasn't some sort for hallucination or perhaps just a placebo?

No, this happens to me sometimes once I start to go into SP, but anyway I can't believe that you were trying to WILD for 2 hours
      LD's: don't keep count

      1. i was awake, trust me, i have no idea how it happend but it did, my eyes moved FAST, and i just got up after that, i want asleep.. i dont fool myself so easily and if i do, i would know in the morning and and and as i said- i just got up after that...
about the 2 hours: it was the first time for me 2 but it happend cos i wasnt so tired and cos when ur on your back your body turns numb after some time (not sp, just you dont feel it) and its pretty easy..

A similar thing often happens to me when I try to WILD.
Everything is going smoothly, and sleep paralysis starts.

Then my eyes begin moving back and forth quickly, which causes me to tear up because I'm awake and it feels weird. In the end I can't stand the eye movement and the wet eyes so I just stop trying to WILD and go to sleep.

I think this is my main obstacle in being able to WILD, since everything else seems to work for me except for this.
      DILD - 3
      WBTB - 1
      Total LDs - 4

Ye, happened to me when i was trying to WILD from afternoon nap. Maybe it only happens when you are not tired.

This is very much incorrect. REM does not happen because of eye movement in dreaming, if that were the case REM would be present throughout the night as we are constantly dreaming. The REM phase is just when the dreaming is most vivid dreaming occurs, as well people can actually not be present in their own dreams (like dreaming of others and/or being an overseeing entity) and have dreams involving no eye movement and still experience REM.

It is true however that eye movement while asleep can be directly related to dreaming eye movement, as Stephen LaBerge tested this on many subjects and found that whatever direction they moved their eyes in their dreams(as they were told a certain order before hand) happened to be the direction in which the eyes in the waking world were influenced.

Now, in answer to the OP, REM has been known to happen on occasions in waking life. Very rarely, and usually it has to do with either sickness or being overtired. I'm reminded of an episode of House in which one of his patients with The Plague experienced this.

hmm...thats funny, after i trying to get my first LD (WILD without presleep) i noticed my eyes flickering but whenever i close them now, they flicker unless i relax them. Dont know anything about it, just that its weird but its not bothering me. I think its kind of cool
