Ok, watch the new ep. of Lost (ON topic)

Ok, ya I'm a BIG fan of Lost, and realized there are some dream themes, but until tonight i never realized how much it can be!! to all lost fans, non-lost fans, the recent episode that just played tonight (ep. #405, "The Constant") is a must see for LDer's. It deals with going back and forth in time with the character Desmond. but its not physically time travel, its more of psychological time travel. Anyhow (spoilery for fans, watch out) the character Desmond, went back in time at one point, due to an exposure of electromagnetism, ever since then he had flashes of Charlie dying. This episode explores what happens when he leaves the island. Throughout this episode, it cuts from the present into the past. The only difference is that he remembers where he was in the present while in the past. So for example, he spoke with Daniel (a professor) on a phone in the present. he said when he goes back, to go see him at oxford university and tell him some info from the present. thus Desmond wakes up in the past, remembers what he said and does. Kinda like a reality check huh? So Daniel tells Desmond in the past that he needs a constant, something familiar and meaningful for him in both past and present or else he'll die (he picked his girlfriend, Penny). Like dreamsigns/greamguides huh? overall, its about time travel and possible OBE in the end of things, but taking it out of context and relating it to dreaming, and awaking in alternate realities is really relatable for dreamers out there. i cant do justice in what i said above, you really need to watch it. Ya, you wont follow the story if ur not a fan, and youll be right confused, but for a tv show it really explores ideaologies on LDing. for americans, u can watch it on ABC.com tommorow (unless u seen it tonight), for anyone else, try torrents, or watch the rebroadcast next week sorry if u think its off-topic but it really hit me as being informative of dreamsigns and reality checks and such. EDIT: theres an episode from the 3rd season (ep. #308, "Flashes Before Your Eyes"), dealing with the same character goin back in time, but still much more like an LD. including dreamguides and dreamsigns. worth checking out also.

I don't watch this show (probably the only one who doesn't) but I'd check out episodes that had to do with dreaming.

Oh my God I thought I was about to throw up from the sheer epicness of the new episode. I'm a diehard Lost fan. Yeah I thought the same thing about OBEs concerning Desmond. Maaaaaann I can't wait until next Thursday.

I must admit, now that you mention it, that the episode Flashes Before Your Eyes actually seem like a lucid dream really. I would say this week's episode could somehow relate to recurring dreams, or dreams you keep re-entering (it happens to me above all in the morning, maybe because daylight pouring into my room keeps waking me up). Also, this dual life the character is living (in the past and in the present, kind of at the same time) can be related to whether we believe our reality (during the day) is our dominant life or not; if what we live at night when we dream is less important just because we remember less of it than of our reality. Well, even if it couldn't have been related to lucid dreaming at all, I feel "The Constant" was such an extraordinarily moving episode anyway.

Oh God, that last episode was easily one of my favorites. Desmond is such an interesting character, and that scientist is shaping up to be an amazing character too. I thought the exact same thing though when he wrote the numbers on his hand so he would remember then when he switches over, that's exactly like a reality check. I'm loving this season so much, it finally feels like lots of stuff is happening.

That episode was genious! I was at the point where I had my mouth open in shock, and was talking to the tv screen. Although, that happens quite a bit while watching Lost...It did seem like a lucid dream. Although, I don't see how he could suddenly just lose his memory and gain it back so quickly.
