      protection

Is it possible that sometimes your subconscious protects you from going lucid to protect your sanity or something? Last night I kept getting to the stage of doing reality checks, but the dreams I was in were just too weird and a voice or image or feeling would stop me, as if to say ‘not tonight’.

Also isn’t it strange how your dream self accepts pretty much anything as real? You would think that it would be much easier to go lucid, considering some of the unreal situations you can find yourself in.

Interesting thought, but what about those with frequent lucid dreams? I don't think you can go insane from too many lucid dreams.

I'm thinking it's more the situation I'm likely to find myself in sending me round the bend than the actual ld experience. A bit like my mirror situation I mentioned in another post. If it's a mundane dream eg out shopping or something and I do my RC, usually I'm away. Most times however, it's not as simple as that, and it feels like there's a block of some kind.

If you think there is some sort of 'block', there will be.

Maybe it is because it wants you to know t he different between reality and dream so you don't go around killing people in real life and think it's a dream. There have been cases like that before =[

My mind takes almost anything as real, even though I doubt many things. In a dream I had last night I was a wolf(in which I transformed into one before in a LD), but I still didn't catch it. I AM SO STUPID ITS CRAZY!!! I tell myself everyday to doubt everything that happens and to make myself stop whatever I'm doing to check if I am awake. I do reality checks by habit, but in my dreams I don't do them. I think my subconscious is mad at me for not talking to it....
