Smile Someone verify if this was an LD

So Im real new at this, but I have a kinda unique situation where I wake up every morning after about 6 hours of sleep to take medicine, then just fall back asleep. When I heard about WILD i figured, sounds perfect. I'd been trying it for a week, but just kept falling asleep. Not to much success, but this morning I'm pretty sure I did it! I'd just like someone to read this and verify it.

So after I had taken my meds, I made sure I said to myself "im doing it this morning, Im going to LD" I went back to bed, and slowly some pictures, but no noise came to me. What I saw was a very vivid image of a pill bottle (no suprises) that said schizophrenia (not what I have, but hey its a dream right). the letters kept changing all the way to someting like scheil32300a. What I did was try to make the letters go back to schizophrenia, and some would. Finally things started to fade, and the "screen" or what I saw, turned white. I was sure about myself, opened my eyes and was in my room. Things felt heavy, so i stood up and looked at my hands, they were not too different, but sort of bigger and clumpyer. I looked at the clock, and unfortunately i cant quite remember if it was a weird time, but then i did a couple spins cuz i heard that can stabilize the dream. Too late for that though because my heart was beating uncontrolably from excitement. I woke up and couldn't do it again cuz i was so excited.

Even though my hands didnt change much, did the fact that I conciously did a spin and looked at my hands and the clock mean that I was LD'ing.

If so, how do i build on this, how can I prolong it. This is a great feeling and I hope to get better at it

      sorry for the long post

If you knew you were dreaming, it was a Lucid dream.

hock311, I'm glad you decided to join us and here is a long answer to your long post!

First, lucidity has nothing to do with "control" (meaning that you can be in a lucid dream.. but still not be able to affect any changes).

Lucid dreaming is merely the "awareness" that you are dreaming WHILE you're dreaming.

Did you ever say (or think) to yourself, "I'm dreaming?" and, if so, did you BELIEVE this statement/thought to be true? If so, then you were definately lucid.

Next time, if you're in doubt, do a "reality check". The reality check that has never failed me is the "plug my nose and see if I can breathe" reality check. It never hurts to do your favorite reality check a couple of times or even do two different ones.. just to really convince yourself!

As for how to prolong your dream, for those new to lucid dreaming, I advise that you don't try to set the lucid world on fire your first few dreams.. don't try to do too many tricks, summon people, etc. Simply go with the flow and take it all in. Get used to what being lucid FEELS like so you can ground yourself in your dreams.. that's when the tricks/stunts can happen.

Your first few dreams simply act like a tourist in a new place.. go sightseeing and take in all the different colors and sounds. You may try to increase your vividness by confidently declaring "increase lucidity" or "clarity now" but that would be the extent of control I would recommend for struggling dreamers.

I still have to remind myself the moment I become lucid to get "grounded" in my dream (i.e., make it as lucid as it could be) instead of immediately racing to do something before I lose lucidity.

One of the tricks I use to "ground" myself is to "touch" things. By touching.. I mean really "feeling" them. Get into how they feel.. are they hot, cold, smooth, rough, etc. (this also helps me remain in the dream longer).

Also, there is no "try" when you're lucid.. only "do". You must KNOW that there is nothing you can't have nor perform while in your dream.

Just remember that "the deeper the level of lucidity.. the better your lucid experience should be".
