      Lucid without even trying

It's been almost 5 months since I last posted here and had lost motivation for lucid dreaming for various reasons. My only other successful attempt at lucidity lasted for approximately 4 seconds before I awoke.

This morning I awoke at 6am, earlier than usual and went back to sleep. I had a dream which I awoke from and tried to speak to my girlfriend, but couldn't. After a couple of attempts at speaking/shouting, rather than slipping into a nightmare I simply realised I must be dreaming and became lucid. I was really excited, but didn't wake up. I think this was because I was so tired after spending the entire night before in A&E and got all of 10 minutes sleep. I got out of bed and had the sensation that my eyes were gummed shut. On picking up a few objects around the room things started to clear up, and I was able to fully open my eyes. The lightswitch didn't work and neither did commanding the lights with my voice. After going through to the livingroom and grounding myself a little further, I was able to point at each lightbulb and click my fingers to switch them on individually, which is quite cool since all three bulbs are operated by the same switch. After trying a few more things out (including a failed attempt at flying... ouch!) and actually struggling to awake when I wanted to (I needed to get up for work), I managed to write the entire thing down and now have a new desire for more lucid dreaming!
If you think you can't, you're right.

That's great, Ouija. You have the ability. When you do feel like you have time to devote to practicing, you know you will be able to do it.
