      Failed WILD

So I thought tonight I'd try a WILD.

I got up 3 and a half hours after going to sleep, and lay face up on a couch. After a while I felt like I needed to scratch myself or move my limbs, but I resisted.

Apart from some minor twitching, I experienced nothing I've read about on here. (Vibrations, sounds, HP). I lay there for 30 minutes before I tried a roll out, which now I realize was stupid, because I felt no shift.

Is there anything I'm doing wrong?

I usually experience the same type of situation. I would say you need to 'ride the train' a bit more into deeper relaxation, and try not to think about what exactly you are feeling/experiencing. Instead, just feel them and observe them objectively; don't judge, don't think, just accept and welcome.

It's hard at first, but once you get the hang of it you will be able to become more relaxed and thus increase the liklihood of a successful WILD.

      Good luck!

Hey Scar, Luminous and I have already helped you in chat, but if you have any further questions, feel free to ask.

And be sure to let us know how that second WILD goes.

Try waking up 5 hours into your sleep.
Try not to think about WILDing while WILDing.
Focus on somthin like your breathing
      Keep eyes closed
      Its okay to use alarms
      Wait...

Never take life seriously. Nobody gets out alive anyway.

Actually, yeah, you can. I've read the WILD tutorial and it said its necessary
      to scratch.

However, most 'scratching' sensations and urges are merely an attempt of the brain to make up some busy work for you to do. When you're attempting to stay conscious whilst ignoring sensory input, your mind feels a need to fabricate sensory input to keep a hold of reality.

Thus, by itching and paying attention to those false bodily sensations, you are both breaking relaxation and reinforcing this negative reaction to relaxation.

The 'itching' is common within the first half-hour of deep meditation and isolation tanks, and is completely psychosomatic, and should be ignored if one wishes to become completely relaxed.

Remeber, the key here is to be the objective observer and don't judge/give attention to thoughts or sensations. Ride the train, go with the flow, and fall deep into relaxation.

I attempted WILD last night. I woke up around 6:00 AM, and as I tried to fall asleep, I caught myself just before I fell asleep. My body was extremely relaxed. After a minute of laying there, I seen some Hypnogogic Imagery, just a small blue bird. After another minute, I felt my feet start to tingle, and seen a little more imagery. After about 3 minutes of that, I felt my whole body start to Vibrate quite a bit, and then seen a whole wall of Images, just random things, and they started to spiral and shake violently. Combined with the Vibrations I was feeling, I got a little freaked for a moment, and told myself what was happening, and after a minute of that, not passing into the dream, I grew tired of it and just Forced Myself up, and then went to sleep.

The key to a good WILD, is to try to catch that moment JUST before you fall asleep, and hang onto Consciousness.
