      Next step past vibrations

Well, I finally decided to get back into Lucid Dreaming after a short hiatus.

Alright, so last night (or two nights ago, I don't remember) I decided to mess around with WILDing some before going to sleep.

Well, I found myself getting the full body vibrations fairly quickly, but I always had to end my attempt early because there was some party down the street and the dogs were going crazy and folks were going on our lawn. I was actually able to get to this stage 3 separate times.

But I couldn't actually remember the next step, and I haven't experienced SP since I was maybe a small child (and then it was the cause of my night paranoia).

What's the next step to entering the dream?

Try doing an WBTB so there are no distractons. Also try imagining your self sinking down your bed once you've reach vibrations

Yeah, I know about WBTB, I just couldn't remember the next step in the process.

      Sinking down? Right.

The funny thing about this is, the same thing happened to me. On my first attempt(to WILD)-last night- I forgot what to do after all the vibrations.

That could be your last step in the whole process. I can't even count all the times people who have had 70 WILDs have said they've never had SP or anything else. Sinking into your bed is good like stated above, or visualize something and 'jump' into it. Like pretend to walk around in your room and it might become so intense that you actually start to do it. Good luck.

I don't believe there is any textbook process for everyone. The stages you go through to get into SP are kind of individual; or so I believe. If you look for different stages and signs, this may distract you and prevent you from going into SP. Just "ride it out" and "go with the flow."

Here are my stages in order from first to last:

      -Hands kind of numb

-Arms begin to numb; arms or legs then twitch

      -Ears start ringing; become plugged

      -Light headed feelings

-mild feeling of head sinking into pillow

-random sounds. some sound like they are physically real; some I just hear
inside of my head and I know I didn't intentionally create them.

-Legs go kind of numb, starting from the feet

-urges to turn over, itch, swallow, etc.

-thoughts flow randomly; increased noises; mild shaking

-Hands feel non existent, or extremely numb

-Colors in eyelids become flattened out; eyes feel heavier

-Arms feel non existent, or extremely numb

-Legs feel numb (mild to extreme)

-thoughts float around room; head feels like a balloon

      -body becomes heavier

-feels like I am floating or spinning on an axis

      -body begins shaking; twitching

-releases of energy or weight off of chest

-eyes twitch; thoughts become extremely vivid; noises louder; buzzing next
      to ear

-The final stages! "pins in needles" all over my body, extreme heaviness, loud
and sharp sounds, weird eye movements, heavier weight on eyelids, shaking, etc.

-pins and needles clear off, leaving body relaxed, yet still in a heavy and numb state

-loss of feeling over body... eyes are closed but still feel open... (Am I dreaming?)

      *thinks about a dream*

      -falls into a dream

Hey, thanks, I'll think I'll try the dream visualization tonight (tomorrow morning).

      My process is generally:

      1. Fall asleep (unconscious)
      2. Wake up to realize my body is sleeping.
      3. Listen to myself snore.
      4. Hear/feel intense vibrations that make me think my head will explode.
      5. Try to open my eyes a little bit - close them when I see strange things and get scared.
      6. Meditate while in the SP state.
      7. Either wake myself up or go to sleep.

I haven't yet successfully transitioned past the SP state into anything worthwhile, but I am trying to.

i would agree, you are very close to attaining the LD! good job!

FYI... this is my general WILD process (although I don't think about this process at all when WILDing...). i think it is important not to try, just be. but i will admit, before i had my first WILD, it was very helpful to hear others tell me what MAY come for me. so here goes....

      1. "my eyes are closed and i know i am awake" - the eyes are clearly still the focal point of my consciousness. i feel itches, etc.

      2. "my eyes and body become more meaningless and i am conscious" - the visuals are still similar to stage 1 but become decentralized to my eyes. more just part of my brain, i think. body feels lighter and i no longer feel basic itches, etc.

3a. sometimes "hypnagogic imagery" - the visuals become... well almost like i would expect someone on LSD to have.... lol. like flashing lights, or tunnels. sometimes dream snippets will pop up and then go away fast.

3b. sometimes "hypnagogic sounds" - the tinitus or humming in my ears will become quite loud, in stages and can include bodily vibrations.

3c. sometimes "sleep paralysis" - intense weight felt on body, lack of feeling everywhere. so peaceful...

3d. sometimes "floating up" - my dream body can float upwards starting with my feet and then my hips then my torso. this stage is usually a dead-end for me, but it could be thought of as an LD too.

      4. "the LD" i have never sucessfully tried to step into a dream. it has always failed me.

i have learned the best way to make it to the LD is not to react to any of these items, but rather... just be. also... don't get scared... and don't actually try to WILD or try to do anything. some LDs for me have came just going from stage 2 to 4 directly (or so i perceive it this way). i wish that always were the case!

sorry for all the boldiness.... i just can't stress those words enough. i have had many more failed attempts than sucessful WILDs and i can attribute many of them to these faux pas. just don't take this, or almost anyone's advice as the definitive guide for everyone. allow yourself to explore! i hope i helped. enjoy!
