      Possibly My First Lucid Dream

Well, it was in the morning and I had been hitting the snooze every 9 minutes, and I started dreaming that I was in the backseat of a car. I thought, "Hey I think this is a dream" but I didn't want to freak out to wake myself. Even though I realized that I was dreaming, I was not controlling it, though. Also, the dream didn't seem like reality as I've heard people describe it as. It kinda felt like a daydream. Perhaps I wasn't really "dreaming", and maybe I was just thinking really hard? Or was this in fact a lucid dream?

You did have your first lucid dream, it might of been fast, but you still had low-lucidity knowing you were dreaming. The daydream thing you describe happens to me everyday when i wake up for school. Ill wake up, hit the snooze for 10 minutes, as soon as i close my eyes im in a new scene.

That is an excellent opportunity for a lucid.
How do you know you are not dreaming right now?

It just didn't feel as real as I'd expected. Maybe this was only a small percent of what high level lucidity feels like.
It felt fuzzy. That's the perfect adjective I could describe it with.

Frist, lucid dreaming is merely the "awareness" that you are dreaming WHILE you're dreaming.

Lucidity has nothing to do with "control" (meaning that you can be in a lucid dream.. but still not be able to affect any changes) nor duration (it can lasts hours or no longer than a few seconds). .

Did you ever say (or think) to yourself, "I'm dreaming" and, once having said/thought that, BELIEVED it to be true? If so, then you were definately lucid.

Next time, if you're in doubt, do a "reality check". A reality check will confirm that you're indeed dreaming which should help to boost the vividness/realness of the dream. The reality check that has never failed me is the "plug my nose and see if I can breathe" reality check. It never hurts to do your favorite reality check a couple of times or even do two different ones.. just to really convince yourself!

You can also try to increase your vividness of your dream by confidently stating aloud "increase lucidity" or "clarity now".

Well, I realized I was dreaming, but I didn't do any reality checks and I wasn't controlling the dream. I just knew it was a dream.
