Well I don't know whether that question you ask your ex will be true nor not, you can always ask him in real life and compare results.

Personally, yes I have learned a lot ffrm DC"s. They seem to be incredibly knowledgeable. I ask them questions all the time, and get very interesting answers.

You will not learn anything new, as it is all in your head.

You may be able to remember old things deep in your subconscious, but that will about as far as you can go.

      Cool

Well, if your DC can answer a question correctly, you will be able to answer it correctly, too. Your brain is like a programming script, if you don't define a certain value (In this case, the answer to your question), there will be an error, because the dream comes from your brain only, a DC can't answer a question your mind doesn't already have stored. If there is a question you don't know and you ask your DC, most likely the answer will be some random rubbish drawn randomly from thoughts stored in the back of your head.

Or, if you don't know the answer to the question already, there is a good chance the Dream Character will answer with a response that your expecting from them.

That too. Your brain can also act like a search engine, the accuracy of it differs from person to person. Sometimes a person's brain is so sophisticated, it can search your entire mind on the topic you're asking your DC and within seconds, it comes out with an answer or an answer that you expect.

You may very well already know the answer you just don't know it. The mind is great at estimation and based on what it has seen from you ex such as facial expressions, body language, tone of voice, and the way he says things your mind might be able to come to a decently accurate guess. Also your mind is great at making guesses as to how he may respond because your mind has his previous responses and personality "documented" . Even to some of the smartest people the answers are right in front of us and we see them and are yet so blind to them.

It's a good question. I've gotten accurate info that I didn't know previously, but it's remotely possible that I knew it and had just forgotten it. More experimentation is required.

If it turned out that you could get accurate information that was previously unknown to you, it would raise some interesting questions about the true nature of reality, wouldn't it?
