I was just looking up my weird reoccurring dreams out of curiosity and I discovered it was SP. However, my SP seems to be a little different from the standard suffocation sensation. In fact, I don't recall having any SP experiences with any physical harm being done to me...just a terrible sense of helplessness.

On average, I have experienced SP at least twice a week for about 5 years now and there are two figures that I see either watching me or I feel are making noises. The common figure does look incredibly close to the half-man-half-beast creature and is found doing different things in my dreams. Unlike most people, I also receive SP experiences on my side or even on my stomach...sometimes my dreams include this beast peering at me through my window or even coming through my door. This beast will also pound on my door or make a screeching sound on my window. I've even had a dream where he walked in my door and came around to the side of my bed where he stood tapping his claws on top of my head. Sometimes I have managed to shake myself to this "OOBE", however it is not as pleasant as it sounds. Wherever I go, I feel like that creature is still around, waiting for me to fall or land. I will often visit other homes during my OOBE, but I see this beast glaring at me through all the windows I come across. Sometimes I will instantly return to my body and find him inches away from my face. (last night) This is not a good sight to see upon instant recall.

Another weird point I thought I'd mention about my SP is sometimes I will be having a normal dream, then think...Hey! This is just a dream! Then I will suddenly be put in this SP state where I am completely helpless. It's almost like, because I figured out it was a dream and I can do whatever I want, I should be punished and confined in my room where this creature can teach me a lesson.

However, I also have seen this "hag" too. This sight is a little more bearable because my fear is not present and I never have seen her face. Just the old hands and hair. I did have a grandmother who passed away during my younger years, and for some reason I feel that these visits are indeed her. I've had several SP experiences where I would feel someone tucking me in or a quick kiss on the cheek. Although I may feel comforted during the dream, once I wake up I feel a bit disturbed.

I've also began wondering whether this beast is an evil identity or a guardian. It's a bit eerie to think about, but there are times when I feel like I am being watched when I know I am alone. It could possibly be that my brain has altered this "beasts" face during my dreams into an appearance I would repulse for whatever reason. I dunno, I just thought I would share some of these thoughts and experiences I have had throughout the past couple of years...

Welcome to DV Slade! I didn't know what SP was for a long time either; cool that you found us and now know what it is.

I've also had noises so loud that they hurt my ears in SP. Really loud noise seems to be a common occurrence for me.

Usually when I attempt a WILD, and I'm passing the veil of SP, it's like a very mild fatigue comes over me and I see flashing lights and shadows of no particular shape. The whole process is usually quiet for me, with the exception of the sound like that of a gentle wind.

I've been 'jarred out' of SP on two occasions that I can remember while attempting a WILD causing some very strange sensations. On one occasion, after awakening during SP I was fully mobile again and my entire vision was flashing like there was a strobe in the room. I remember feeling vibrations fading with the imagery as if they were perfectly intertwined, but the intense flashing stayed with me for over 5 minutes. Otherwise I felt perfectly normal and awake.

You talk to vacuum cleaners and safes, you've had apple trees growing in your living room, tigers and horses in your dining room, an elephant in your bedroom. I've seen you locked in a jail in the middle of your living room and once someone swore they saw you floating in mid-air! How do you explain that, Major Nelson!?

I had almost the same thing happen to me a few years ago. I was asleep laying on my bed when I heard my roommate come in, and actually felt him tap his hand on my bed up by my face, I assume he wanted to wake me up. I just laid there for a bit longer as I was pretty tired, and when I came to and opened my eyes, I was all alone, with no one else in my apartment. Crazy, crazy experience

I had SP since I've been a child.
Especially when I grew older SP was paired with pure horror & panic feelings.
Noone could explain me what was happening.
I lied in the bed, getting weary and then I knew it will come and it came.
I heard the blood rushing through my vains and was not able to move myself. Felt like burried allive in my body.

Nearly 30 years later, yes I'm an old fuck, I had my own theories and was pretty sure to have found out what's going on. I was able to manipulate my dreams for long and felt somehow gifted. Talking about this to other people was no option, even doctors had no answer for this.

And now I stumbled upon this forum and so many people sharing the same with me. Nevertheless I wish somebody have told me this long years ago. Man I was refusing to sleep ever again.

This is like you climb the highest mountain, just to figure out, there was an escalator on the other side....

SP is pretty weird if you experience it and don't know what it is.
Paired with hallucinations it makes you think "now it's finally done, I'm cracked up, ready for the madhouse"

99% of the time in my case, maybe not true for all, nothing happens; except maybe loud vibrating. I remember being real scared at first, thiking that demons would be attacking me or something, and my first WILD was pretty anti-climatic.

It seems strange to me that people find SP to be worrying just because they don't know how to label it. I didn't know what SP was called for years but after the first experience I knew it for what it was: a strange neurological state; a sleep disorder that I hadn't known about previously. I didn't know anyone who experienced it, but I knew that there must be other people who did and I never worried about it. I'm not saying that being in the state didn't scare me, but I knew that there wasn't anything wrong with me.

Man it scared the hell out of me.
Especially this downwards pulling feeling made me going nuts.
I thought that maybe I'll die.
I had panic of going to bed and to sleep.

But now, thanks to this forum and the Internet, I'm not afraid of it anymore.
Yesterday I tried the first time to induce SP and it worked.
Thinking of that I was scared to death and the next day I'm playing around with it.
And this downwards pulling... well, I jumped in and .... just joined my body in sleep.

Im just curious but have you tried talking with it (The beast). You know something like leave me alone or what do you want? I think its response if anything would be quite interesting.

I don't know, maybe it's too simple... but this beast did you no harm.
Are you just afraid of its look alike?

I doubt you'll die in this experiment, how about letting it just happen and say "I take my chances, so may I die, I don't give a damn, better than to live in fear"

It worked for me and I was sufficating nearly my whole life.
      I hope that helps somehow.

      take care
