      Question Need help WILDing

So i've been trying to WILD for the past few days and been somewhat puzzled. I lay there for a while, and then a tingly feeling rushes over my body, I feel an urge to move, it's uncomfortable etc. Well I finally reach a stage where I can't really feel anything touching my body and I no longer have trouble trying not to move and such. In fact, it's almost as if I can't really move.

I believe this is the sleep paralysis stage. The problem is, once I get to this stage, i'm stuck. I've layed in this stage for about an hour, and nothing happens. I don't see any hallucinations or anything, just blackness. Eventually I just give up and either get up if it's in the daytime or turn over and go to bed.

Suggestions? I'd really like to lucid dream so anything you say would be helpful.

Wake back to bed? Simply waking up 5-6 hours after going to sleep makes a huge difference.

People in the chat just told me that it's important that your mind isn't too active. I'm thinking that may be the problem.

Try another technique, such as MILD. You can WILD without WBTB, but it's very hard and if you succeed, you'll get a much shorter lucid dream.

Mnemonic Induction of Lucid Dreams. An example of a relatively easy technique. Other tutorials can be found on the tutorials page.

The reason Sleep is important for a WILD to work easily, is your body needs to be really close to the REM stage of sleep. Your body will also be much more relaxed after 5-6 hours of sleep, making your trip into Sleep Paralysis that much easier.

Because you've also awaken after that many hours of sleep, you'll be more apt to do whats known as "REM Rebound", and that is, going straight back into REM sleep (the dream stage of sleep) when you fall asleep.

So when you are trying to WILD after 5-6 hours of sleep, your body can just jump straight into REM sleep, without passing through the other stages, and your dreams will be much much longer. The first dream of the night lasts around 10 minutes I believe, with each one getting longer. so 5 - 6 hours into the night, you should be up to around 30-45 minute long dreams.

Well, i've been trying to WILD without WBTB but with no success. I don't have the time to do it during the week and weekends are my time to get my necesary amount of sleep, so WBTB isn't that good for me.

One thing I can't understand is i'll lie in my bed for long periods of time without moving and yet not reach sleep paralysis, but something that is similar imo. My whole body will feel tingly and if I stay still long enough i'll feel a wave of tingly-ness rush over my body from my head up, yet i'll still be able to move. Sometimes I lose the capability to control my breathing but nonetheless I am able to move if I want to. In my mind it's hard to move, but in reality I can easily just stand up and get on with me day. So i'm a little confused.

i just go to bed and think about what i may dream about or what i want to dream about and where it could take me in a normal dream then i fall asleep and wake shortly and do it again and i usually have a lucid dream.Or in the morning i become aware that i will wake soon so i wake then think of something to dream about and fall asleep again and it will be a lucid dream.i don't know if it will work for you though because i do it naturally i didn't need top be taught.

If you don't have time for WBTB, could you try to WILD during an afternoon nap? Try it once or twice on a lazy sunday afternoon. Sometimes you will drop directly into REM sleep when you nap. Around 2-3:00pm works well for me.

Also, Wake Back To Bed does not have to interfere with your sleep schedule too much. Just 5-10 minutes to break the night up into two halves. It really makes a huge difference.

I've mainly been experimenting during my weekends. Like I said, I go to a very difficult school with more than enough homework so I don't have much time to experiment with Lucid Dreaming. If I am lucky enough to be able to go to bead ahead of time I usually attempt a WILD but i'm sure you all know how difficult that is right before bed.

Anyway, I guess i'll keep trying each weekend until I get it. I'm sure once I get the first lucid dream the next time will be much easier.
