sometimes I just want to give up :(

yep another frustration thread. but oh well. here goes

I had a time where I would lucid dream a lot, but lately it just hasn't been working out. I know everyone goes through dry spells, but I miss the most obvious things.

I write my dreams down, I reality check, I do WBTB and attempt WILD and FILD, I try to let go of my frustration after I wake up from a lucidless night because I know that stress and frustration makes it difficult and I try to keep lucid dreaming on my mind in a positive way, and nothing seems to work. It's like I will find a technique that works a couple of times and then it just stops working and no matter how hard I try it just doesn't happen. I haven't become lucid for ages.

what about you guys? any help or experiences? maybe i just need some motivation... I dont know

The only thing I can tell you, lagunagirl, is anytime I have a lucid dream, no matter how far apart they are, it's always worth it. Don't give up! You may be going through a dry spell now, but I'm willing to bet it will pass. In the meantime, always concentrate on what you REALLY want to do when you finally become lucid. Hopefully, it'll happen so even though your lucid dreams may be few and far between, they might be better, more vivid, and you may have more control!

      Good luck, girl.

Just keep in mind that the more time you spend lucid, the more familiar it is, and the easier it is to become lucid in the future. Read through your favorite dreams, or other people's DJs for inspiration.

Do you have a list of all the badass things you want to try next time you're lucid? I always get lucid when I'm excited about completing a new fun task.

If you're really frustrated, try something different for a few days. Maybe try dream incubation.

You can never give up lucid dreaming.

Now that you know the concept, it will be with you for the rest of your life, wether you stop recording dreams or not. =]

Look at it this way, lagunagirl: We all have dry spells. Some of us have them longer than others, at times. Hell, as someone that's been somewhat familiar with lucid dreaming and dream control ever since I was a kid, I still get dry spells that can last up to a month or so. There are just so many waking world factors that affect our sleep and dreaming patterns - stress, fatigue, anxiety, etc. - that it's sometimes hard to pinpoint what it is that's making us lose our ability to realize when we're dreaming. Just the task, itself, is often hard enough, but it's especially so when there's something that's actually keeping us from doing it.

Just keep it up. Take a technique and stick to it for a week or two. Don't switch around too much. Reality check heavily for a week or two, WBTB for a week or two. The more you let yourself get accustomed to a technique, the more likely it is to work (IMHO).

Has there been an increase of stress in your waking life lately? I've heard that stress can mess with stuff like Lucid Dreaming..but don't give up!

i go through hellacious dry spells. then i give up. i forget about LDing altogether and then guess what happens? BLAM, out of nowhere, more LDs. Sometimes, I feel, focusing too hard on trying to LD can limit your ability to do so.
