Strange Lucid dream and False Awakening?

The method i like to use the most when attempting to lucid dream is i first start off with letting my thoughts wander. I just allow randome thoughts to rush in. After a while i can feel myself slip into the dream state. When i feel that i imagine all my thoughts saying "your going to have a very vivid, real lucid dream.". i can remember cartoon characters saying it, screams in the distance saying it, everything that rushes in. Anyway so i was slipping into the dream state when i heard "YOUR GOING TO LUCID DREAM" in a very frightening demonic voice. I just layed there and told myself just sit though it you will be able to do whatever you want in a bit. After that I was in my school hallway. I plugged my nose, and i was able to breath. So i ran outside and was planning to fly and blow stuff up or whatever seems entertaining at the time. Suddenly this fire portal sucked me up and i could feel myself falling and being burned as i was being pulled into hell. I heard this very scary demon laugh and i was screaming WAKE UP!!!. suddenly i was lying in my bed but i was unable to move. I felt a strange presence. Then i felt like something was putting huge ammounts of pressure on my cheeks and chest. I was unable to scream, move or breath. also the fact that my face was being stretched back was very uncomfortable. the hair stood up on the back on my neck and i didnt fall asleep for about an hour. Was this a false awakening? i have heard that when you dream you are put into another dimension. could this of been a spiritual experience?

      Hey, and welcome to DV!

The first part, until you were back in your bed, was definitely a lucid dream. But, you did wake up for real. What you experienced when waking up is called sleep paralysis. It can be a scary experience, but it's completely harmless.

When you're asleep and dreaming, your muscles are paralysed to prevent you from acting out your dreams. Actually, we go through sleep paralysis every night, but when we talk about sleep paralysis on the forums here, we typically mean sleep paralysis experienced when awake. But sometimes, for some people, their bodies doesn't come out of sleep paralysis the moment they wake up, or they fall into sleep paralysis before they fall asleep when they are about to, rendering them partially or completely paralysed for from anywhere from a second to around a minute. Some people also only experience sleep paralysis once or a few times in their lifetime.

When in sleep paralysis, you might experience hallucinations. Like your face being stretched back. It's also common to feel chest pressure and inability to breathe, and your body feeling heavy. Again, all this is completely harmless.

I hope this eases your worries. There are lots of members here who actually try to induce sleep paralysis (which is abbreviated to SP).

Haha yep, its same old sleep paralysis. Dont let that one experience scare you VastAwakening, like Luminous said, SP is completely harmless. And the more you go through SP, the more normal it will start to feel.

When you've been through sleep paralysis enough times, you learn to take the pressure on cheeks and chest as a good sign. It usually means that you are into a fairly stable state of sleep paralysis... if you can calm yourself down enough, you should be able to close your eyes and be on your way to a lucid dream right away!
