      Dream content

I was just wondering why I could go through the entire day thinking about one thing-say lucid dreaming, but when I dream my dreams involve tiny snippets of other ideas I might've had (literally fragments). Really does the subconsious mind base dreams on what is emotionally (something along these lines) envoked rather than the quantity of it?

If I know what attracts my subconsicious would it be possible to integrate ideas pretaining to lucid dreaming into this? Sort of like an effective reality check. Or is understanding the subconscious a bit of a stretch concerning how it takes the path of ideas?

yes, I would say the subconscious mind is using emotional imagery. the subconscious has been called the 'seat of emotions' since 'emotions' belong to the subconscious more than the conscious. otherwise, we can consciously put on an emotion. but most of us can't, so our emotions becomes an uncontrolled response to a situation. making that the realm of the subconscious mind

thats why if you are stressed, you are more than likely going to dream about what stresses you out. thats why we dream about school or work.

now, when you are lucid you are 'aware' of dreaming. and you become 'aware' of everything happening in the dream. you take a moment, you look around in the environment, you absorb everything. its thrilling, its being in the moment.

thats why some lucid gurus have suggested the best way to lucid dream is to live in the moment while you are awake - be aware at all times. and this will carry through into the dreaming.

carrying an escapism attitude, such as "life is boring, I wish I was asleep right now" isn't going to make dreams magically fun and happy. but just the opposite. dreams are a reflection of yourself. if life is boring, more than likely, so to will your dreams unless you can take lucid control.

but even then thats taking a risk. if your dreams are so boring, that they just mimic real life, then it can be even harder to realize it is a dream, and you can miss out on any lucid chances.
