It depends how long you have been doing it, and how you go about teaching yourself to expand your awareness in LD. For example, I am at the point where I have LDs about every other night. Sometimes I might go for a week not having them, but that goes with the territory. But I have learned to meditate in my LDs (amazing). I have formed a rainbow and made it run completely vertical. I had the intention of viewing everything in the dream in its natural state of energy (incredible), I have made a flower turn into water. I have 'swam' inside the ground, I have had OBE's.
But it took me a long time to learn how to stretch my imagination to do these things. One of the biggest problems to overcome is to learn how to stabilize the dream without having to focus on it all of the time. And sometimes, in order to do this, you must exist in 3 places at the same time. One - knowing and feeling that you are asleep in bed. Two - focusing and concentrating that you are stable in the LD. Three - Have those running in the background almost unconsciously so you can do what you want o do without concern of falling out of lucidity. And when you feel yourself falling out of lucidity, you can pull number two (and one) into focus to regain clarity without completely falling out of whatever experience you are having.
That is what I mean by the level of experience you have in LDing. The more natural it becomes, the more freedom (thanks to stability) you can attain.
If you are wondering, in truth, how far you can go, learn how to let your subconscious guide you. That is done by meditating while LDing, with intention. I have found that when doing this (which is the only way I do it nowadays) whatever you have planned to experience is far surpassed. Whatever you thought to experience is so much beyond it, you cannot imagine that your imagination came up with it. (Personally, I do not think it is your imagination, but that you are accessing alternate realms/realities when you achieve this state. There are many reasons why I know this, but it is too long to get into. It has to do with vibrations/OBEs etc.)
