      Eyesight Determining Vividness?

If you had bad eyesight, like I do, and can't see without your glasses that well, would it effect the vividness of your dreams when you take your glasses off to sleep at night? Would your subconcious come to the conclusion that you aren't wearing glasses so you must not be able to see well?

I wear glasses, but I can almost always see fine in my dreams. I do have the occasional less vivid dream, though. Also, I very rarely wear glasses in my dreams.

What I'm saying is that it probably doesn't have any affect, though it might for some, for all I know.

It won't effect your dreams as long as you don't expect it to, I mean I'm like half colorblind and my dreams are pretty colorful, much more then waking life I'd say, plus thats why people say that sometimes their lucid dreams are vivider then real life, because the hindering of physical problems doesn't exist, your mind probably isn't going to go through the trouble of making your dreams have slight visual fuzz, I mean that does happen, with everybody once in awhile.

Or if it's a real problem, just put on your glasses in your dream.

Lots of people who wear glasses can see just fine in their dreams. If you can't then you can always summon or find some glasses. I often suggest that for people who have low vividness in their lucid dreams.

I've always been able to see clearly in my dreams and I've worn corrective lenses for over 15 years. I have had dreams where things are blurry, but I believe that has more to do with the fluctuating dream state rather than one's perception of the visual world. Unless you're very conscious of the fact that you wear glasses, there should not be a problem.

I've actually used the ability to see clearly as a dreamsign. It's difficult to notice, though, as I don't usually take the time to ask myself "Can I see clearly?" *makes a note to try that*

You may have dreams where your vision is blurred. But this would not be because of the physical disability. It would pertain to your feelings and thoughts towards your use of glasses.

At least that's what I think.

Wow, I never considered this question.

I wear glasses all the time.

My vision in my dreams is always 20/20 and I've never been aware of my glasses being on in my dreams.

My dreams are often very vivid and I see lots of detail.

my eyesight is really poor but i can see perfectly in my dreams. and when i focus (trying to stabilize lucidity), my vision is even stronger, as if i am wearing glasses that are too strong. you know the feeling? u get dizzy, etc.

so i would say no, eyesight doesnt affect vividness. why, does it happen to you?

maybe it's what you're accustomed to seeing that's patterned in ur dream. if i didn't correct my vision with glasses/contacts, and wear them every day, i might see as blurrily as i'm "supposed to"

btw. do blind ppl dream blind?

I wear contacts all the time. My regular eyesight isn't horrible, but I do need it to see things beyond a foot in front of me clearly. I've had the topic of needing glasses/contacts show up in my dreams a few times, but never because I couldn't actually see clearly. In one my vision was perfect, and I kept telling myself I needed to go put my contacts in. In another, I couldn't see through my right eye and attributed it to "wasting" too much time trying to LD (Um... cue lucidity?... or... not)

Ironically, the one where I was trying to get to the counter to put my contacts in led to lucidity, and that was the only truly vivid one I've ever had. It was also one of those mind-blowing "WHOA WHOA WHOA THIS IS A DREAM!" LDs, so I may have just been paying more attention to details that normal. Otherwise, in all my other dreams, lds too, my vision has been about equal to RL with my contacts in.

But yea I agree with what someone posted above. If you consider that to be an issue, it may show up in your dreams.
