Thread: Semi-Lucid better than Lucid?

Semi Lucid Dreams are dreams where your slightly aware that its a dream even though you may still act and go about like its a normal dream.

Ive noticed that I enjoy Semi-Lucid Dreams more than full Lucid Dreams.

Some Reasons are:

- They last much longer than lucid dreams/ dont have to worry about the dream ending
- More emotional
- 100x more dream control vs Lucid Dream
- The environment feels more real/interactive
- More fun/enjoyable/satisfying than a Lucid Dream
- Your still vaguely aware that its a dream, but not enough to ruin the fun experience of the dream.

Let me give you an example of what I mean, you know when you have a Lucid Dream and your worried that its going to end abruptly especially when you about to have sex with a hot girl, and it kind of sucks that you know shes not real. Well in a Sem-Lucid Dream your aware enough that you can do anything to her, but still feel as though its real just like a normal dream and you will feel as if shes is real, and the best part is you dont have to worry about the dream ending.

The best way to have a Semi-Lucid Dream is to first have a Lucid Dream and while your in the Lucid Dream try to become involved with something so that you start to lose consciousness

There are points upon which I agree with you, but overall, fully lucid is better than semi/pre-lucid. When I'm fully lucid, I see things more clearly and the environment around me feels so much more tangible. The overall sensation is greatly appealing (and sorely missed).

I recently had a pre-lucid dream where I exerted control in order to attempt to fly, but was unaware that I was dreaming. When I was younger, I exerted some measure of control over my dreams on a regular basis, be that through flight, moving objects, and just generally altering the things around me. However, it seems that ever since I discovered LDing and learned that you could actually be aware that you are dreaming, that level of realism and my ability to think irrationally dropped off, more so the latter than the former. Granted, I've been through a lot in the last four and a half years, much of which has caused me to focus a lot more on the waking world than the dreaming world.

It's true that I'm more emotional in non-lucid dreams, but that isn't always a good thing. Those few times I've been lucid, I'm too busy looking at the world around me to really focus on my feelings. With practice, I'm sure this could be changed.

It just depends on the quality of your semi/pre-lucid dreams.

I don't think that lucid dreams are necessarily better than semi-lucids or just regular dreams but I don't see why you should be afraid of waking during a full lucid or have less control. There's also no reason for lucids to be shorter than semi-lucids or to have less interactive environments.

I do agree with you though, that non-lucid and semi-lucids can be more fun because you interpret the dream more like reality and may think of DCs as real people.

Semi Lucid dreams can be alot of fun sometimes even more fun then pure lucid. The reason I say this is when you are Fully Lucid you know you are dreaming and break away from the story you are participating in. Just a few hours ago I had a semi lucid dream were I was this time young child in the victorian era fighting against demons. If I had become fully lucid then I would have broken away from the story and done my own thing.

I guess when Im fully lucid im just to powerful for my own good and the current world I am in just changes into what I want when I become lucid.

Wow, for me I want as much awareness as possible, the closer to waking life the better! I can be very lucid and still go along with the dream plot, the only risk is that I eventually end up losing lucidity while following the plot.

I've had several of these types of dreams. I often asked myself "WHY would you just sit there and go along with this!"

I came to the conclusion that plain ordinary laziness was responsible for it. I'm passive like that sometimes in real life, and it carried over to my personality in the dream world.
