The alarm clock that I use is big, loud, and annoying. On the loudest setting (the only one that can wake me), I only wake up about half the time. The problem is, whether or not I actually wake up, other people do. This makes using an alarm clock risky.

Maybe try it on a day when you don't have to be up at any certain time? Just wake up naturally and try it.

sometimes I'll sleep through the sound of my alarm clock, but when my phone vibrates, I wake right up. I dont know why. Maybe you should just experiment with different ways of waking up and see what works.

also, autosuggestion might help. Just repeat as you go to bed "I will wake up when I hear my alarm clock"

hey if we can use autosuggestion for lucid dreaming, why not use it for other things as well?

Keep dreaming, keep trying. Soon you'll discover an amazing alarm clock - your own brain! It sounds weird but I'm able to wake up at any time I want, I just have to say that I will before I get to sleep.

Right now this is my best bet. I'll have about 3 months free of schedule in the near future. It's funny - after creating this thread and thinking about the subject intensely, I woke up in the middle of the night for the first time in weeks.

Drink a whole lot of water before going to sleep and see where that takes you.

Do you have a mobile phone? If so, put your alarm on vibrate and put it in your pillowcase. Doesnt matter where in the case, it will vibrate the pillow and wake you up.

Though, I dont know anything about the 'radiation' thing with fones. Put your phone on 'flight mode' just in case! I hope that should stop any dangers.
