Why are emotions so powerful in dreams?

Last night I had a dream about this girl and I had such strong feeling towards her in the dream. And when I woke up I felt like shit because it was just a dream.

Anyways ive noticed that emotions are really strong in dreams, does anyone know why?

Yeah I find emotions in dreams quite amazing, but I havn't had an emotional dream in quite awhile my theory is that when your in a dream your conceptual mind is open much more, and thats were most emotion comes from, not sure what part of the brain emotion represents atonomicly but my guess is it's much more active during sleep.

It'd be cool if you could some how control them.

Lets look at the question in a different light:

What if the only dreams you are remembering are the prominent ones i.e. the ones with the strongest emotions; and then generalising it to dreaming as a whole.

Sorry to get off topic, but that happens to me all the time in dreams, and it is terrible.

Emotions are usually the only thing i remember, but then pictures come. maybe we feel emotions more with our subconsious, or maybe its poor visualizing skills? Quite honestly i really don't know.

      I agree 100%

I am trying to see if its possible to be able to experience emotions just as intense...

I find that we surpress our emotions in physical world, due to many factors, and also our minds is always drifting in the past or future which causes other emotions to occur...so your never 100% focused on what is unfolding in real life and were not taking everything in...

Your dam right. Our brain stores emotions as data and all related to that particular emotion is trigered when you think or feel something equal to that emotion.

For example try to close your eyes and remember a bad emotion. In seconds all bad thoughts and experiences you had in your life will start floating in your mind.
The mind works with associations and our subconscious is the keeper of god and bad emotions, beeing some bad emotions so terrifying that this "data" cant be stored correctly staying in the nervous system inducing bad behaviours and attitudes until its treated.

Our subconscious is very powerfull but he is like a child so it makes alot of sense why emotions are key to it.
