Thread: Can you prove lucid dreaming?

I beleive in Lucid dreaming because i have experienced it but how can you persuade someone who doesnt beleive that its possible?
Is there any solid proof of its existence aprt from our personal experiences, because its hard to explain to someone what it is without showing them the scientific evidence.

There is alot of scientific proof behind it, one of the experiments done was to ask a lucid dreamer to do a task( such as moving eyes side to side, breathing deeply, something simple) while measuring the brainwaves in real life and then asking them to do it again in a dream, he/she would go to sleep and (hopefully) have a lucid dream, the sensors would still be on to measure the brainwaves, and he/she would repeat the action they did earlier on and the brainwaves would be read as being the same.
Which would act as some kind of proof that they have the ability to control their dreams..

Anyways I would recommend doing a search for it and seeing what kind of proof you can get back.

There is proof out out there, if you done the search.

But for sombody of no idea about the subject it is a bit hard to convince them about the possibility of you can do ANYTHING in a lucid dream.

The hardest thing to convince sombody of such a closed and restricted mind is to release that border they have in there mind of they cant do it.
They have a thing called rationality, which stop's them from doing all these wonderful things.

Try and get your friend starting of slow, like
-looking at their hands
-creating anything by there mind

It's the hardest thing to try any tell sombody about Lucid dreams, and other worlds that exsist on top of this one, swirling in and out of our normal reality that most of our minds our trained from birth not to pick up on signs we get from everyday life.
If only we were taught the Spiritual path from birth the world would be better of.

Lol yeah it's amazing huh how science fcks with peoples minds. Even if you discovered the greatest thing ever, if you can't scientifical prove it, they won't believe it. But if you can link them to a site with bogus scientific explanation on, and fake scientific proofs, they will believe it

Just Go over the facts watch Human body pushed to the limits on the discovery channel it's really interesting and talks all about sleep, sleep paralysis, the logic center of the brain, the basis of lucid dreaming, how the body goes over memory, and how it heals itself. It is actually really entertaining look it up at discovery.com. the other episodes are good to. You don't even need to try or tell them about lucid dreaming. Give it to them as a birthday gift....Just an idea.

Ive told alot of people but nobody takes it serious. No one Ive told has done it yet either. Its like no matter how cool you tell em it is they really don't care.

I guess belief and "giving a sh*t" go hand in hand.

In the first place how can you have solid proof of something that you can't see and experience for yourself. The sleep lab test in LAberge's case was a result of a lucid dream where the dreamer remembers the waking world and what he was supposed to do in this case moving his eyes..etc. But then there is another type of lucid dream which I'm not entirely sure it's really conciousness because there is no trace of waking world and no memory of what to do when lucid. How do you prove that? Dismiss it as non-lucid or like many people call low level lucid? It so happens the one that was tested and taken to show that lucid dreaming is real was a lucid dream????

Just tell the unfortunate personage that he/she is the one missing out on something amazing (that they could learn) and if you really want to share the cool experiences you are having in dreams then do it here with us, Because we care and I have found people really aren't interested in general and the topic of dreams gets the same sort of reaction as talking about religion or sexuality.

My ex-girlfriend didn't believe in lucid dreams, even though I told her about them and how cool they were. She showed no interest in them, and thought I was just obsessed with dreaming, so I just stopped talking to her about it. Some people just choose to lose I guess.

Its sucks, I know. You want to share something with someone, and its such an absolutely mind blowing experience that you cannot believe they arent totally amazed by it!

Not everyone wants the same things, some people are close minded and think its impossible, others just dont care. They just kind of look at you and go congrats?

Either way, I just laugh because its their loss , Im still going to have a good time when I go to bed, they can lay there like a brick until they have to go to work the next day

I'm going through this right now. I just want to tell someone and have them say, "awesome, tell me more" but I only have my parents. Dad is out, and mom, who I have the most in common with, has this avoidance of sleeping because she has nightmares. All she can do is listen if I talk to her. Or pretend to listen.
