      Black Lucid Dreams...?

I'm dissapointed. In the past two days, I've had four lucid dreams... but they don't really count because nothing happened in them.
I'll realize I'm in a dream, and then decide to do something, and then somehow, everything goes black. The other night I became lucid, and asked immediately after to see my dream guide, but instead my eyes slowly shut(in the dream) and everything became black. When this happened, I figred I was simply awake with my eyes closed in my bed... but when it happened to me last night, I refused to allow myself to lose it so quickly again, so I kept focusing on rubbing my hands together, and staying in the dream. It was still all black, and I remember at one point close to the end of what I can remember I saw a big purple screen as if in a movie theatre and it was a purple screen, but it never got any better, and I believe it went black again after that, but am not positive

I tried really hard to imagine SOMETHING so I could see; But couldn't. For a while I tried playing catch with my father, making sure I focused on the feeling so I wouldn't wake up. But it was still black the whole time.

Any ideas on how to get something to come up when this happens?

Its funny, the reality checks haven't really done much. I always simply know I'm in a dream. But if it weren;t for those checks, I wouldn't be positive, and the whole time I'd be skeptical.

OH! And I asked the other people inside whatever theatre I happened to be in, even though I couldn't see, and a girl yelled to be that since I can draw well on paper, I can't draw well in my mind either. I called her fat and said she couldn't be right...
I don't know if that means anything

      That cracks me up!

Having a LD without any visuals is pretty common when you first start out. Paying attention to anything in a dream (like it going black) makes that thing more pronounced. I know this sounds hard, but it will go away if you can get your mind off of it. When I go bind in a LD, as I call it, I try to instead focus on my other senses. Sometimes I pretend I'm laying in bed daydreaming. Eventually what I'm daydreaming about comes to life around me, including visuals. This could help you, too. If you have any trouble you can PM me.

yeah the blackness happend to me twice. the first time i just woke up, but the second time was a huge success. i heard somewhere (probably on youtube) that all dreams have a lifespan and they all end eventually, when that happens all you see is blackness. while you're "in the black" as i call it, you are still aspleep but there are no visuals, and if you just wait patiently for a few minutes a dream or some sort of visual will appear, just focus on that and you will eventually find yourself in a dream scene.
i followed this advice and after 2 minutes or so colours appeared and eventually formed a golden door that radiated light. the door opened and i found myself in the parking garage of a mall or something. i tried looking at my hands but couldn't, so i imagined rubbing my non-existent hands together and then BAM! everything was amazingly vivid and detailed. well a lot happened in that dream that i won't get into, but the point is just be patient and a dream scene should appear.... unless you really are awake

also don't force anything to happen, just let it happen on it's own, but once something does appear focus on it. at least that's whats worked for me.

      Good advice. Thanks.
When I started to go blind (as you put it) all I thought about was that. I didn't focus on anything else, and was simply annoyed that it was happening, and that was all I could think about.

My plan now is when I realise I'm in a dream, I will just stay inside that dream for a while instead of automatically trying to leave the situation to have some immediate fun.

Pay attention to things in the dream. I see that you have tried rubbing your hands together, but have you tried spinning. It works well for me. Also, a side-effect of spinning is sometimes a change in dream environment; so this could potentially help you escape from the blackness.

I as well had this problem when first starting out. I just relaxed, took a deep breath, visualized the last thing I saw, and then I opened my eyes, to my dream world. I used to have the problem where I would wake after the blackness. Once, I exited the blackness into SP, and hit an instant WILD (or DEILD) and had a good Lucid.

The same thing happened to me for the first time last night. I tried flying for the first time, but after a while in the air things started getting dark. I tried to fight it but then I woke up - or at least I thought I did; it ended up being a false awakening.
Remember to reality check after waking up, people >.<
