      WILD: Positions

Do you have to be in a certain position to perform a WILD, or can you be in any comfortable position you would like. Like, I imagine you would have to be on your back?

You can be in any position you like.

      But, most prefer their back.

Try the position that you normally sleep in.

psychology student is right. I used to try to WILD on my back, but was never successful, so now I WILD on my side (my normal sleeping position).

I say, try it both ways, and see what works better for you. I think sleep position plays a big part in your WILD success, but it is different for everyone.

I can't fall asleep on my back anymore, ever since I switched to a softer mattress. I did this on purpose to quit snoring. I always start to WILD on my back, and roll to my side after I get good and relaxed.

Strangely, some of my most memorable hypnagogic hallucinations happen when I do manage to WILD on my back. Sometimes this is on accident, and sometimes it is because I sleep on the futon in the guest room. Maybe it has something to do with me feeling less comfortable on my back, and therefore remaining more conscious as I fall asleep?

Here here. I tried to wild on my back this morning. I can never get comfortable on my back and it feels like I'm suffocating. My first successful WILD was on my side, as long as you're comfortable.

I sleep on my side, but I always do any type of meditation on my back, so I can WILD on my back. I find that the best for me, when I'm on my side I toss and turn too much.

The suffocating sensation is normal, and in no way harmful. Try to ignore it.

No no.. the suffocation sensation isn't a WILD thing, It's just a thing I get whenever I try to sleep on my back.

I have the same problem feelinig suffocated when I try and sleep on my back. I never had the problem until I bought a softer mattress. When I sleep on the hard futon in the guest room, I have no problems with it. I think the puffy mattress constricts my diaphram from expanding laterally. I'm not real fat or muscley, and it doesn't matter what sort of pillows I use.
